Today I've been given at my local GU clinic the sh24.org.uk address to book online my home tests kits. They say it is free and anon during postages. Results provided within a week. I get tested regularly locally but this online service for me is going to make a big difference in getting checked more frequently. I'm also hoping to get a Prep delivery sometime soon from abroad, so regular checks would be necessary. Has anybody used this service already?

I'm sure most of you know about the PARTNER study that started a few years ago. If you know about it, the results won't be a big surprise for many. However, something HUGE happened and it's been making the news this week (including very mainstream media like TIME, NBC/CBS, Reuters). I didn't see a post about this yet so I thought I'd share this development. The high profile Journal of the American Medical Association recently reviewed new results from the PARTNER study, and for the first time, they not only published but also endorsed the findings and published the entire article for free! If anyone knows the AMA Journal, you know that this is way more than a stamp of approval. The fact that they published it widely "reflects the importance that the results have the widest possible access". A day later, the Human Right Campaign issued a statement to highlight the study. And there are talks for the CDC to update their directives and guidelines about undetectable viral loads, prevention and safe sex. Finally, organizations are already hoping that this publication will give new blood to fight back against HIV stigma and the criminalization of poz partners in unfair legal cases. So with this, here are some of the headlines seen by millions starting this week! I have to admit it's refreshing and encouraging to see how the public opinion may slowly change as more and more of these studies get in the open. Seeing it on FOX News is kinda nice. And I'm sure more will be published on LGBT / medical sites in the coming weeks. It's time to end HIV stigma! Hope you find these updates interesting! What are the implications of the results? The lack of HIV transmissions should challenge the wrongly held common assumption that there is always a risk just because someone is HIV positive. The results actually go further. The lack of transmission challenges scientists to prove that transmission is actually possible when viral load is undetectable. The PARTNER study -- as with other studies -- suggests that there is likely to be a level of viral load where HIV transmission does not take occur. PARTNER suggests this might be at 50 copies/mL, or at 200 copies/mL or perhaps even higher. How will people benefit from these results? HIV positive people can become less anxious and concerned that they are a risk to their partners whenever they have sex. This can still be a worry, even when using condoms. HIV negative people can be less anxious about risk. Even when using condoms, this residual risk can limit full enjoyment of sex. Less anxiety and fear can help with closer communication and better sex. For many people, a good sex life is an important and essential part of life. Some people might enjoy not using condoms in a way that wasn't possible when they still worried about HIV. Sero-different couples who want to have children can conceive from just having sex without the need for additional PrEP. Reducing fear about HIV transmission might reduce the stigma and rejection HIV positive people encounter when meeting new partners. Legal cases where HIV is used because of a theoretical rather than actual risk will hopefully become more rare. The results might enable some people to launch an appeal. US activist Sean Strub from the SERO project (www.seroproject.com) said in response: "Hundreds of people living with HIV in the U.S. have been charged with criminal offences for the perceived or potential risk of HIV exposure or transmission. Some are serving or have served long prison sentences for spitting, scratching or biting and others for not being able to prove they had disclosed their HIV positive status before having sexual contact (even in the absence of any risk of HIV transmission). HIV criminalisation has created a viral underclass in the law, further burdening a disenfranchised community, putting a disproportionate share of the shared responsibility for preventing sexually-transmitted infections on one party, and discouraging people at risk from getting tested for HIV." Hello buddies, four weeks ago my bf got a positive HIV test result. He was taking the initial test for starting the PrEP. I am on PrEP and we wanted him to get it too. The test was a huge shock for both of us because I am sure that he always had safe sex - he was even more precautious then me. As his VL was very low the doctor assumed that either he is a good controller or the infection had occured recently. As mentioned this test was a big shock and somehow I can't really believe it till now. I also took two test (even for RNA) because we had bb sex since I had started the PrEP. But I am negative. I won't tell you how hard the following days were, but I think we found our way through this rough phase. He is going to work again and now we are waiting for the second tests to see how the infection develops. Besides of asking you guys in which way I can support him without clucking him I realized that my sex drive has driven down to nearly zero. So has his. Even though I'm on PrEP he doesn't want to have Sex at the moment, not with me, not with others. (This is heartbreaking because I know how much he loves cocks.) I wanted to take to PrEP to have uninhibited BB sex. But now, everytime some guy asks me for an encounter, I feel blocked. In a crazy way his infection feels like a punishment for me for wanting too much. A huge point is that he wasn't chasing or such thing, I believe him that he always used protection. So he wasn't a tempted barebacking candidate. That's why I think this is so unfair he got it. So how shall I enjoy (BB) sex when he got infected by not even barebacking? I know it sounds crazy but talking a crazy idea out of the mind usually doesn't bring back the boner. Maybe I am moving too fast and when things settle down a little the drive will return, but it's been four weeks now and I wonder how long this will take? I would really appriciate if someone shares his thoughts on this... BTW: We are a couple for nine years now, living together and loving each other.

Let's face it. It is still argued that gay unprotected sex is a cause of HIV/AIDS regardless if both males are clean. So let's propose by way of question: Can penetrative sex between two ABSOLUTELY CLEAN males (let's pretend they are virgins) lead to HIV at all? And if so, how? Your input is appreciated. (Understand I'm familiar with this site and I am aware of the risks I take with bb sex) I also did a full set of labs with my doc last Tuesday and the ghon/chlam came back negative. Nothing on syphillis and HIV. (Just haven't gotten results back, no confirmed things yet) I had three sex partners since my last test. One came inside, one didn't...so he said but I was a bit wet. This is what I got: - runs for two weeks (irregular diet and lots of energy drinks... Hoping it's just irritation of the gut) -I did have two out of place canker sores in my mouth out of the blue... - two weeks ago and after messing around with SF dude, I had night sweats 1 or two evenings. Everyone at work was getting sick but me so I thought maybe I was just getting some of their symptoms.... I get this doesn't look good and well I'll find out this upcoming week for sure.... Even after I gave them information on civilian doc's who could walk them through the process of getting a patient on Truvada. They blew it off. >.

This new study further makes the case for PrEP. Some people were concerned that if you seroconvert while on PrEP you'll develop resistant strains while taking PrEP. This seem to have happened during partners PrEP, a straight study of PrEP users. Seems like if you simply stop PrEP after seroconverting the resistant strains will disappear and you'll get regular strains flourishing which are vulnerable to normal drugs.
