I support the decission, but there are problems! What if it comes positive-many people need counceling after the initial diagnosis. Yes, with time people learn to live with it, but I know for myself that I would fall of a cliff in a deep depression and would need quite some time to get my head around it. It is not going to be easy for 90% of the people to accept. There is an issue also with the fact, that the test doesn't detect fresh infection and can give you the false assumption to go bareback with people you don't know(those sexy anon hookups from time to time). That being said I think it is good and necessary, because many guys have problems(no idea why) to go and get tested-I guess some of us still are afraid to be percieved as homos at the hospital.

I am sure they will offer a number that people can call in to get counseling.

the home test info states that they're not as accurate as professional testing; false reports either way are possible.

even with that wiggle room, it'll make it harder for guys to lie about their status, which to me is a good thing.

and you can always refuse to sleep with a guy who's neg.

I can't imagine a neg btm having a guy over and then all of a sudden pulling out some home test and telling the top to take it before he gets fucked. It aint going to happen.

I gotta disagree. There are bottoms I've fucked that were indeed that anal and had enough money that the cost wouldn't be a big issue. Mind you, they're not very good lays - too uptight.

I can also see it being used on porn sets - so maybe we'll see more bareback porn with neg guys as a result. I'm not sure the legality of that though - they'd have to consent to their HIV test results being shared with the other models before they knew the result. Imagine if one of them tests poz and then people know about it immediately 'cause the other models start telling friends...

a guy advertise a bareback party on BBRT that he was hostimg at his hotel room while he was visiting Seattle. His status was negative and he was going to be the load taking bottom at the party. He said he had some home HIV tests he got online and was going to require the party participants to take the test before they started to play. I never did find out if he was bullshitting or not though.

to me the test would be one more tool to help keep me negative while taking risks barebacking. Sure the tests are not 100% and a guy could have pozzed recently and the test misses that, but then not much in ife is 100% for sure, even fucking with condoms is not a guarantee you will stay negative. Condoms slip off, break... But I hope these home tests lead those who have been afraid to go in an get tested, to test at home. Because knowing your status is better than not knowing because when yoru know your can take better care of yourself, and if you know your poz you can focus your efforts on finding other poz guys to play with guys you can be up front with and know going into thigns that the sex is going to be raw and nasty.

or that will be the excuse.

i wonder how long it wil lbe before someone holds the manufacturer liable.

I'm sure they will have a thing on there about STD's, or safe sex or barebacking. You've seen those birth control pill ads and at the end they always have some kind of warning. I'm sure they will have the same thing in place.

The manufactorers are going to be required to have information similar to when you get a prescription drug it tells you the rate of false positives they had in clinical trials so anyone who sues is just an idiot looking to blame someone else or hoping the company pays them a settlement to go away.
