Why Do Republicans Hate Gay People?

Well said @RBinWeHo and @mjkuhl. It is ironic that the "party for the people," the little guy, gays, minorities, etc...the Democratic Party is actually going extreme...in the farthest of left ideology in recent memory. The proof couldn't be more clear then the Presidential election of 2016, where Donald Trump won, not because of conservative evangelicals, fiscal conservatives, etc...but "the little guy" got pissed off. This includes many crossovers like minority groups, and the LGBT community. How many of those people said fuck this and voted Donald Trump in?

Also, other than the two coasts, namely California and New York, Democrats have been losing elections for years. Except in 08 and 12, when Obama won, Democrats have been losing House seats, Senate seats both Nationally and state-wide. Also better than 60% (?) of the Governors are Republican. Is this a coincidence?

I also am a fiscal conservative believing in equal rights for all.

Furthermore, with every violent protest, shooting of cops, rant by the Hollywood elite, I believe that Americans  (as a whole) get more fed up. I go to concerts, watch movies (including porn) and TV shows, sporting events for ENTERTAINMENT. Part of that is to escape from everyday life, even if only temporary. So when politics is brought in more and more than before, how's that escape? I don't need nor care what someone making millions and/or having personal body guards telling me what I "should and should not do or say." That's where I tune out. It's also why the further the Democratic party pushes left...there is a push back from those Americans who just have had enough.

The problem with the fiscal conservative position (low taxes, minimal government, free trade, low regulation, union busting, etc.) is that that is exactly the formula that has destroyed the middle class in this country.  That's the Reagan formulation that has been conservative orthodoxy for the last 40 years.  And, coincidence of coincidence, the problems we face with income inequality, lack of decent paying work, etc. all started with the Reagan years and have gotten worse and worse as time has gone on.

That's not meant to exonerate the Democrats.  Bill Clinton basically abandoned the labor roots of the Democratic party in the 90s.  He embraced outsourcing manufacturing overseas.  He deregulated the banks and laid the foundations for the Great Recession.  In short, he adopted exactly the stance you advocate and killed off the long-term prosperity of much of the country.  Obama was supposed to be different, but was basically Clinton redux.  Even his signature legislation, the ACA (aka Obamacare) was policy lifted from the Heritage Foundation and first implemented by a Republican governor.  The US has not had anything like a left wing party in decades, and people who work for a living have paid the price for that.

The reason Republicans are anti-gay is the same reason Democrats are pro-gay.  As a fairly small but visible minority, we make a very convenient political football that distracts the voters from the fact that the Democrats and Republicans long ago settled on a pro-corporate, anti-labor agenda.  Therefore, they play up the social issues because that distracts from the real issue:  the fact that the country is being bled dry.

Trump is good for the country in this sense:  he's revealed the depth of the economic problems in the country.  The very fact that he could get elected at all gives me some hope that, in spite of all the "fiscal conservative" brainwashing that has been flowing out the mass media, there may be some hope of actually attacking the problem head on.  Trump isn't the solution.  But at least he's revealed the problem.

I was very interested in politics in high school and a little after but found myself just not interested in pushing a each parties set agendas. Im not sure if I was unaware of how much things were splitting the country. I gave it some thought and estimated that the best way for my actions to improve this country and people's lives was to go volunteer my time to community service.

After the election I was interested to see if protesters really thought the things being shown by TV. If you are protesting something I always made sure to educate myself as much as much as I could. I was so depressed when the vast majority either felt like this was just not possible because of always getting trophies and never experienced losing something. I suggested that maybe donating the time protesting helping people in need which would actually go towards making positive changes in the lives of people.  It really doesn't matter which party gets selected if we continue to treat each other like we have. Sadly I didn't get anyone to come join me  but maybe in the future.

I did get so pissed at someone that just kept saying"omg Trump is literally Hitler and will kill us all. When I expressed  my opinion of how much comparing them completely minimizes the suffering of Jewish people at the hands of Germany so she could get cheap attention.

On a side note Paris has hosted most of the biggest anti gay marriage rallies so it's not all peachy on the other side of the pond

Ooh this grinds my nerves. Not all Republicans, not all conservatives hate gays.

Much like not all Democrats, even liberal ones, aren't racist or homophobic.

The far right nut jobs? Yeah they give us Republicans a bad rap. Yup ... gay, colored Republicans exist!

I'm a Republican since I believe in the individual solving social problems, one person at a time, versus blaming the structures of society as the source of issues.

Regardless of what your personal views are, wow4761, the Republican Party has consistently taken official positions against the gay community and actively worked to make our lives worse. If you are offended by people generalizing, I would suggest you put that energy into dragging that portion of your party's positions into the 21st Century instead of getting angry at gay people for their entirely justifiable anger.

Why do conservatives/Republicans hate gay people in America? I've heard conservative Americans actually admit they want to kill all gay people.

Why do conservatives hate gay people worldwide.

Conservative Brits can often be as anti-gay as Republican Americans. A conservative bigot is a conservative bigot, regardless of where they live.

Why do American Republican politicians pass homophobic, anti-gay, bigoted laws aimed at destroying freedom of gay people.

North Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Arizona, South Carolina for example have recently passed some very alarming anti-gay bigoted laws against gay people. Anti-TG, anti marriage equality, anti gay employment.

I'm hoping that some of our conservative posters can elaborate.

Explain conservative Republican hatred for gay people.

Hate is an AmeriCON 'value'.

Nothing wrong with Christians.  Best of the lot.  Go tell Muslims, Hindus, Orthodox Jews and Buddhists they should be more tolerate of Gays and see what happens.  Gays are killed, beaten and discriminated against in most areas of the world that are not Christian.  This whole issue is media hype that is bigoted against Christians and Whites.

Basically using a demographic that is smaller and historically disliked to focus the anger and discomfort of your base is something that has been around since the beginning of time. Gays, Muslims, and people of color are easy targets to rally against given that the GOP base is relatively untraveled and hasn't explored too much outside of their comfort zones.

While their are some GOP Leaders like Michelle Bachman  (yes, guilty of promoting murder and hate crimes) whose campaigns in Africa have led to very serious "Kill the Gays" bills in places like Uganda, the majority of GOP leaders probably don't think to much about GLBTQ except when they need to score political points.

A backlash is happening right now in Christianity where the people who believe in the Golden Rule laid forth by Jesus Christ are challenging the very Christianity of false churches and evangelicals. Basically stating, that if they do not honor the teachings of Christ which commands Christians to treat others as you would like to be treated, they should not call themselves Christian.

The more gay people are known in communities the less the GOP will use GLBTQ as a battering ram.

It is fun to note that only one mention of homosexuality  man lying with man) is mentioned in Leviticus

. Donald Trump has broken 60+ rules in Leviticus and the Religious Right are still praising their Predator in Chief.

That is one of the broadest questions I've heard in a long damn time. The answer is they don't. While there are some that do, there are some that dont. The media loves to make it seem like they do, but in reality conservatives believe in a mind your business, I mind my business kinda thing. I'm conservative, and bi. The left love "queer" folk up until your views differ than theirs do. Granted that's not everybody, and the same does for the right also

There is hate thoughout all of our lives and each person's perspective is developed by the atmosphere in which we live.

If you think ALL Republicans hate gay people, then you don't know the "Log Cabin Republicans" or any of their issues. The fact is that the former Republican party had hi-jacked the religjous leaders. Remember the Clergy orginally did not want the comman man to read or have their own bible.  They wanted people in the seats and money in the offering.

The entire reason why Catholic Priest can not get married or have a family is because the Church wants their money and property. There was a Pope who got married, gave his property and inheritance to wife and family and the Priest have not been allowed to marry since.  LOOK IT UP!

Catholcs were told to go back to abusive relationships and do everything to Keep the family together and involved in the church. They wanted Members and Money.

The Entire reason the public opinion changed is in fact because of the AIDS EPIDEMIC. It forced people out who had been in the closet for years. Once people realized that their sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, Aunts and Uncle were gay --- we became Human. It took a long while until we got some rights, but they are Not equal or eligible every where.

I lived in a city where in the 80's & 90's had police patrol the gay bars and beat people up with clubs.  In 2008 the same guy was the police captain but no way would that happen. Our Mayor had a gay daughter in a committed relationship and the prosecuting attorney was a single lesbian. We had hate groups but justice was on our side.

I now live in such a repressed area,  there are 7 municipalities that it is ok to be gay. We may have the right to marry in all 50 states, but my state statute still claims that it is ok to be fired or thrown out of housing for being gay.  It is far from over but we are marching ahead.

For some it remains religious but they have NO IDEA why. It was surprising when they realized that men make more money than women and two gay males with no children suddenly had a lot of disposable income. That is why we have become more acceptable to some.

Honesty, there is far more hostility from the left towards all of us than the right.  Would you rather walk and disagree into Christian Church that is against Gay marriage or an Antifa rally.

Most Republicans are neocon anyway.  And it was the left that bashed White Gay men for preferring to date other Whites on Gay apps while giving a free ride to others who had other preferences.  Choose you real enemies wisely.

Ever since Reagan, the Evangelicals have controlled the Repugs and they're the biggest hypocrites!  If they could've gotten away with it, they would've tarred and feathered Clinton and yet they worship a thrice married serial adulterer who openly admitted he would've 'done' Ivanka if she wasn't his daughter.  Like it or not, I'm a QUEER radical Leftie and gays who are Republicans because they're fiscal conservatives suffer from self loathing!  Libertarian or Independent?  Antifa is a stock answer for them, but they're sliding closer to fascism.
