arseboy
Seems you are London based. How/Where are you getting your Truvada pills if you don't mind to share? NHS won't pay for them atm. I was in a clinic yesterday and theyve produced a booklet about buying it online if you are in the UK, I'll see if there's an online version but it's great takes you through everything suggests sites and explains how you should take it. Meanwhile has everyone responded to the NHS consultation on Prep? The National AIDS Trust has provided draft answers but we need as many individuals as possible to respond. paskin
I'm also in London, and got mine from United Pharmacies (very straightforward transaction). All the info you need about buying online is at: http://www.iwantprepnow.co.uk/buy-prep-now The guide to taking it by i-base, which uses information gathered from both the "PROUD" (US) Study (one pill every day) and the IPERGAY (French) Study (Event based dosing) is online at: http://i-base.info/uk-guide-to-prep/
dude8688
I've got my 3 month post PEP test in October. All being well (IE neg!) after that I'm gonna order my first batch of PrEP. Seems quite straightforward, just taking one pill a day and monitoring for STI's. I know it's not quite that simple!
rawfuckr
I'm so hesitant about buying Truvada/Tenvir-EM from indian pharmacies... I bought some ED drugs, viagra/cialis generic, and they do NOTHING compared to the real thing. Did a lot of A/B testing and the 100mg of sildenafil from Alldaychemist (suhagra) did nothing to me while 100mg of generic sildenafil from US (5 x 20mg Revatio) give me a brutally insane hardonThis instantly made me not trust Alldaychemist, specially for something like PrEP where you have no feedback on what you are ingesting. I understand some people in London are doing Tenofovir testing to make sure you are taking the real thing, but still leaves a lot of room to suspect that one batch you buy from some random indian pharmacy may be placebo. Europe needs officially sanctioned PrEP now. Edited September 23, 2016 by rawfuckr
xxbjn2
before I could get them locally, my doctor gave me this site to get a supply from. they were approved to manufacture a cheaper version and it was tested in Aust. I did need a script from my doctor to get them though. http://www.alldaychemist.com/
paskin
Rawfuckr, I too was skeptical. Especially as I'd just fininshed PEP taking the official blue Truvada. When I ordered my first batch the usual generic that gets mentioned is Tenvir-EM by Cipla, but United Pharmacies were out of stock. I then tried AllDayChemist only to discover that I couldn't pay by credit card, so I decided to go with the more expensive Tavin-EM by Emcure from United Pharmacies. The bottle was foil-sealed, but I was a little concerned (after hearing so much about Gileads little blue pill) that the pills were white, and might not be the real macoy. After a week of taking them I went for a TDM (Theraputic Drug Monitoring) test to verify if sufficient levels of tenofovir and emtricitabine were in my bloodstream. The hardest part was the 2 week wait for the results, which came back showing it was fine. The test has to be taken at least 12 hours after ingesting a pill, but not more than 17, which might complicate matters depending on when you prefer to take it, and can get blood taken. The most recent (8th August) results for batches that were tested is at: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B37FNlyZFahOdWl5bHVaSWRRNFU/view The next update is due in November which should include mine and hopefully many other results. I'm well aware that we have no idea how stringent any quality controls are, or of what variation there might be from one batch to another, but it all seems good so far... and unfortuneately we don't yet have a better alternative except to pay £400 per month for actual Gilead Truvada.
hardix
1st day on Prep, so far so good. The site I was directed to by the clinic, to purchase PreP or in this case tenvir EM is supposed to be OK. The pills have been tested and checked to make sure they do what they are supposed to do, but I do understand the quality issues involved. What we need to know is, has anyone contracted HIV on these drugs from India? and is it worth spending £400 pounds for Truvada or only the £130 something I paid for 3 months worth of tenvir.? I'm pretty sure the NHS wouldn't be recommending these sites if they didn't work.... Roll on the end of this week, will be PreP and ready to go....... willinghole
I wouldn't worry - CIPLA is a major pharmaceutical company and is authorised and inspected by the US FDA for the production of its generic version of Truvada ie Tenvir.
