Should I "expect" an HIV positive result?

Recommended Posts

And the 10% figure derived from dr Scorpio is assuming all bottoms are poz

so 10% is a push,

but however there are many events with lower chances of occurring, occurred, so it's still not 0

I already replied to a different thread posted by you, about your same worry. I understand your fear of getting tested and finding out you're poz, but for gawd sakes, man up and get tested. I'll bet you dollars to donuts you're neg. As others have written, to answer your question, the tops who are poz are also versatile and got infected by a hot load.

I'm a total bottom and at one point about 6 years ago, I got loaded about 3 times a week for three years. I lost track of the number of dicks that had loaded my hole, some who fucked it so roughly, or who were doing sloppy seconds or sloppy thirds, and made it bleed. Then there were the bathhouse visits and a few randy evenings at, or after a bar, as well as quite a few fuck parties. If my hole is still uninfected, yours must be too.

... after the first time I made a mistake of doing BB, that was it … BB sex became an addiction. I have, over a 4 year period, BB'd indiscriminately. I don't know the exact amount of times, as I stopped counting. However , it is currently less than 100 times and is somewhere around perhaps 40 to 50ish times.

The majority of times, I "came" quickly as I tend to be a premature cummer (due to just how intense the pleasure of BB is, for me) and so most experiences were brief. However some of those experiences were much longer fucks, and I sometimes fucked very hard and very deep. In the early stage of my BB'ing, I had a really hard acne spot on my foreskin...and although this never bled or anything when I fucked, I fear the HIV virus would have got through this. This is the biggest thing which concerns me ...

I have not tested for a long, long time as I am terrified of being told I'm positive ...

I decided a few months back to finally stop doing BB. So far so good. I've stuck to that. Alas, I fear, it is far too late already ...

So, should I be expecting, as my gut tells me....an HIV positive result?

Hi - I can see that you're concerned. After the first time I had bareback sex, I was similarly worried - so I can empathise. It is, of course, impossible for me (or anyone on this site) to tell you - one way or the other - whether you've contracted HIV. But what I can say is, based on available expert knowledge of transmission rates (relating to types of exposure), the probability of getting HIV from insertive anal intercourse is - on average - is just 11 out of 10,000 (per act of exposure) [the info can be found on the CDC website]. So, about a 1 in 900 chance per fuck. Given those odds, I doubt it's necessary to "expect" an HIV+ positive result. Your later comment "I know in my gut that I am poz, I've done BB far too many times to not be poz." sounds like you're overly worrying about this.

P.S. I'm not sure "doing BB" is necessarily a "mistake". That is debatable.

@whoremonger Nope.

(Current) CDC numbers put the risk at 1 in 161. And remember, the CDC is based in America, where somewhere in the region of 70-90% of all males are circumcised (not like in Europe where about 90% are uncircumcised).

Therefore the 1 in 161 figure will be an approximate risk for circumcised guys. We know cut guys have significantly less risk while topping of contracting the virus - so therefore, that will mean uncut guys have a higher risk than 1 in 161.

And given the majority of men in the US are cut, this probably explains why in that country HIV is not common among total/exclusive tops (and why so many men on this website have topped bareback for many years and are still negative). But elsewhere, in most other Western nations where most tops are uncut, the risk for bareback tops is extremely high .

If you won’t get tested, you are not gonna know your status, maybe until it’s too late ??‍♂️

Concerned1,

I understand your worries...but it is clear from your repeated statements that you are suffering from excessive worry...take control of your life (BLUF: bottom-line up front) and get tested!!! Then see a gay or gay friendly doc and get on PrEP!!!!!!! Excessive worry will only drive you to the nut house.

Admittedly my story is anecdotal but I never bottomed either and since about 2001 I've fucked random guys bareback. No idea how many, but it is in the hundreds. In 2014 I tested after years of deliberately not doing so and to my surprize I was still negative. In February 2017 I was admitted to hospital with PCP pneumonia and discovered out of nowhere that I had full blown AIDS. In 2015 I was prescribed methotrexate, which in my case destroyed my immune system. This almost certainly left me wide open to infection even as a total top, and resulted in a very rapid progression. There are just too many variables to even attempt a guess at your status and the only way to be certain is to get tested. Even if you are poz it's not that big of a deal any more. If you're still neg you can get on PrEP, but even if you're poz the meds will quickly have you undetectable and able to live a normal healthy life.

To the original poster - I hear you and I was in that same mental "place" for over a decade.  Here's all I can tell you, I have indiscriminately bottomed as a bareback, taking at least 200 loads in my ass and swallowed thousands of loads for over 20 years - from Maryland to Delaware to NJ to NY to Chicago to Wisconsin to Atlanta to Florida to Vegas to California to London to Milan to Paris to Florence to Rome to Madrid to Barcelona to Montreal to Toronto and back to all those US States multiple times at gang bangs, video booths, bath houses, parties, one on one's, with women, men, groups, street girls, strippers, you name it.  I always thought, in the back of my head, that I was either immune to everything or that I was certainly riddled with everything.  Add to that the fact that I'm married with kids, living in the burbs as a seemingly straight guy and lived a double life, doing all those things without anyone ever knowing - it was exhausting.   After all that time, I had a regular blood workup this March - those don't really find STDs or HIV so I guess I thought it wouldn't matter, but my liver panel test came back super high (ALT and AST levels).  Turns out I had JUST contracted Hep B within a few months before the test and it was actively attacking my liver - not a huge deal since 90-95% of Hep B cases become fully cured on their own within 1 year - but it turned the regular life on its end as the other life came front and center.  I feared the worst - HIV and everything else so I told  the wife and asked her to get tested - she came back all clear (WTF?) - and I came back negative for HIV, Gonorrhea, Chlymidia, Hep A and Hep C - the only thing I had other than the recent Hep B was syphilis - and it was latent and never showed any signs.  How on earth could I not have every STD in the book?  Seriously, I've been fucked so many times in such sketchy ways that it's impossible.  I've been gang banged in a dark basement by a group of black guys that were shooting heroin - I was rough-banged by two guys doing lines of coke in a London bath house - I banged two strippers bareback in the ass, switching back and forth with all three of us high out of our minds spitting into each others mouths and me eating their pussies and tonguing their asses - and when I came in one of their pussies, I sucked it out and spit it into the other's mouth for her to swallow. I was in 2 porns in Vegas, one straight, one gay - all bareback, all the guys had fake negative tests...jesus, just to write this all out makes it even more impossible that I'm not poz.  SO - I have a feeling you're going to be fine when you get tested!
