Narrative and storylines in Porn

In some of the other sections of this forum there are some really good stories that have been written - some stretching to many multi-parts - and some are extremely popular. Followers anticipate each instalment eagerly... Given how guys seem to anticipate and discuss each chapter of the stories as they are written and published, it strikes me that this could be a great subscription revenue stream for studios. 

Now, I realise a lot of porn is about instant gratification but given the popularity of the stories on here,  I do wonder if there is a market for stuff that has more emphasis on characters and a storyline - maybe even a mini-series. It has probably been done with the more 'fluffy' porn but I reckon there is a market for some less fluffy (TIM style) stuff with a storyline. 

I remember the 90's/00's Cazzo films that were harder in terms of content, but had a storyline (although usually quite a weird one) - and enjoyed those.

Is anyone making this kind of stuff any more? Is there a demand? or am I alone in my appreciation of this kind of thing?

My late partner preferred porn to have a plot--or at least a context.  It didn't have to be much:  "You slacked off on cleaning the pool and need to be  punished."  He loved  Carnival in Venice directed by Jean-Daniel Cadinot.  You had romantic love scenes and hot orgy scenes as the men struggled to figure out their partnership. 

But my biggest issue was always having to ask hot porn guys to act.  One in a hundred could say any kind of dialogue convincingly.  Laughing or groaning (or throwing my slipper at the TV screen) got in the way of my enjoying the sex.

I think that's the key problem. The Venn diagram of "Men who look like the kind of guys wanted in gay porn" and "Men who can actually act without having to look at the camera every ten seconds for a line prompt" has a very small overlap section.

I prefer reading a good sex story than watch the story unfold on screen. While we really can't blame the guys because they're not really actors, the bad acting can really be a boner killer no matter how hot the guys are.

I like porn with a storyline. Some companies do have a series of vids but mostly they are just a theme to connect sex scenes. And not always bareback. RandyBlue and The NakedSword come to mind. EricVideos usually start with a setting, i.e. guy gets pinged on his phone (Grindr, BBRT etc.) and goes to an agreed place (guy's room, a roof, the woods etc.). 

But I agree most of the "actors" can't act (there are exceptions) and the dialogue (other than "do you like my big dick?" or "open that hole boy") and acting is a mood killer. But I like the idea of a porn movie with a plot, decent acting and steamy sex.

It sounds like you mean hard-core serial porn. On paper it sounds great, I'd like it, but as mentioned by the others, acting ability would be important. The characters would need to be relatable and real for it to be taken seriously and viewed as a turn-on. In regular porn, the worst acting seems to be in the beginning of the scene when the context is being set, as soon as the sex starts it gets more natural. It costs less to hire actors that can't act and minimize their opportunities for speaking except for sex talk.

Yup, acting and screenwriting. On the other hand from what we've seen here, it sounds like there's a market for it. The question is whether the market is willing to pay what it would cost for the quality acting and screenwriting (and a fair profit). Entrepreneurs, take note! Myself, I would be willing to pay something for it, which is more than I can say for 80+% of the porn that's out there now.

I used to enjoy those late 90s era Falcon videos that had actual story lines to them. It made watching the movies more entertaining; even if in the end all we were there for was the fucking.
