BootmanLA Posted August 5, 2020 Report Share Posted August 5, 2020 This is a clarification question. Assume a user comes across a posting in a forum that clearly belongs somewhere else. If it's a new posting, it's easy to report that post to the moderators with a suggestion that it be moved, and perhaps even a broad suggestion which forum. What if it's a topic that's clearly in the wrong place but nobody's grasped that it's a bad fit where it is? For example, the HIV/AIDS and Sexual Health forum is supposed to be health-issues related. It has a sub-forum called "Making the Decision to Bareback" which carries the specific caveat "Even discussion of bug chasing is OK provided it's thoughtful and serious." Should the user report the first posting, even if that post is possibly tangentially vaguely related to the topic, but asking a question in such a way as to guarantee the discussion quickly devolves into raunch? Here's a partial list of topics in that sub-forum visible tonight on the first couple of pages of threads: --Did you allowed "repugnant" tops to cum deep inside you? --Bottom should accept poz loads? --Relationships --white dicks treats me good --Reconnecting with old fb --What Does It Feel Like To Be Gangbanged? --Douching never successful! I see no relationship between any of these topics and the stated forum purpose of "Making the Decision to Bareback". I have no objections to the content, but it's like books that have been misshelved at the library or bookstore (for the youngsters out there, these are buildings where you can go and actually borrow or buy a physical book, which is a bunch of words printed onto paper, without downloading them to a tablet or Kindle). This is just one sub-forum example, but it stands out to me because it's all crammed into a spot that's OSTENSIBLY about serious sexual health discussions. It would be nice to have a place where those can be had and you don't have to sort through 11 pages of people rhapsodizing about what filthy cumdumps they are that they will take loads from drug-addicted homeless people to prove their lack of worth. I don't mind, as one of the moderators once phrased it, "being that guy" - reporting shit left and right to help get the place cleaned up. BootmanLA Posted October 10, 2020 Author Report Share Posted October 10, 2020 On a tangentially related topic: I'd like to suggest that the HIV/AIDS and Sexual Health Forums be scanned more closely for bug-chasing-related posts; if it's not already policy, I'd suggest that topics (or individual postings) that encourage people to go without meds so they can share the bug, discouraging people from PrEP, etc. be barred entirely from that forum. It's not that I'm against people making those choices for themselves, and I'm not even opposed to people encouraging that behavior in the Backroom areas. But this is supposed to be a forum about health issues, not about deliberately choosing to be unhealthy and/or make others unhealthy. When one part of this site is unabashedly devoted to one side of that issue - chasing/spreading/gifting/etc. - then it seems only rational to keep that influence OUT of the area where people discuss how to remain healthy. And if that is/becomes the policy, I'd recommend a pinned post in that area clarifying that policy. I'd be happy once that's clear -if it becomes so - to spend some time flagging posts and topics that would seem to go against that policy, so they can be moved to the Backroom. I just did a quick scan of the sexual health section and was generally fine with what I saw (not that I looked at every post). Bottom line I'm fine with honest, thoughtful discussion on any sexual health topic being in that section. Going completely without meds is absolutely a health topic that's sexual in nature. Having been through the AIDS crisis and having watched a lover die of AIDS, it bothers me that people would choose to do that to themselves. But it's their body and (in the age of PrEP) they're only harming themselves. They're more likely to get a balanced caring response to their question/issue in the sexual health section than in the backroom. The backroom will be more of a fetishy echo chamber and they won't hear as many people urging them to take care of themselves. Going no-meds "full blown" is the extreme case to me. Encouraging guys to not use PrEP or stop PrEP is a lesser case. It can be said in a fetishy "go for it dude" sorta way, or it can be said in a compassionate/thoughtful "figure out what's right for you" sorta way. If you see any cases of clear "fetish-driven" responses that don't seem thoughtful or compassionate, then please feel free to report them so a moderator can take a look.
