Words losing their meaning

It's a lost cause, though, because too many people don't even read what you DO write; they come to what you write or say with some preconceived notions and everything - literally everything - that enters into their minds is filtered through those notions. So all the care one may take with writing a profile (or a message post, or whatever), using exactly the words that mean what you wish to convey, is wasted.

Agree with this: When you write stuff you are writing it from your perspective and through the lens of your perceptions. When someone else reads it they apply their own perspective and perception. That's why online disagreements - even on here - sometime happen. It is a skill to write in such a way that anyone can read something and come to the exact same understanding as the writer.

If someone skim-reads a bunch of text then it can amplify the potential for a difference in understanding. I guess when guys are horny and browsing profiles, they're not studying the text in detail. Just picking out keywords.

I think it pays to be explicit and succinct in profiles, keeping what you're after simple and easy to pick out and understand and not require interpretation or much understanding.

One thing is for sure: However much care you take to make your profile text better, you'll always stumble across a better idiot.

Some people use lists of what they're into (particularly on fetish sites) and I think although this fits the succinct and explicit idea, a list gives the impression that someone is looking for someone into all the items on the list, even if it says "One or more of the following:" that is often missed or misinterpreted.

The other thing I don't like to see in a profile is lots of negativity.

Hello,

Yes, I have been confused by some recent profiles on BBRT that indicate 'safe" or "oral only."  Hmmm.......on a bareback site!

LOL yes - There is a thread somewhere of "Ironic BBRT Profiles" which contains a lot of this kind of thing.

me too. i get it though (i think).  i think the "negativity' often comes from guys who are tired of not having their profiles read. Kind of a bitch slap to a perfect stranger, an attempt to dissuade the 'wrong' guy.  The effect if has on me is to question myself and wonder if it's possible to make the grade under the microscope?

Quite brilliant observation.

We’re also now in a world where we’re told snowflake millennials are offended by full stops.  When that is becoming the norm, is it any wonder some things get lost in translation?

When I see a profile that has a list of "don't do/don't be" and other negative or restrictive terms it blunts any interest I might have had. That's equally true when the terms don't apply directly to me. Profiles that focus on the complimentary positive side without judgement don't get this blunting reaction from me.

I'm always looking for men to find and grow joy for us both while they use my cunt.

The only caveat I put on my Scruff profile (which I’ve mentioned elsewhere) is that anyone who refers to his or anyone else‘s HIV status as “clean” will be blocked. Obviously, I don’t need to state that on BBRT...

An expectation of simple human decency doesn't hit a negativity filter for me. 😉

Also I find most of the time the lay is bad. They have all these criteria, they usually have a very specific scene that they need to recreate to get off. I like natural encounters, scripted scenes and method acting roles make me bored and soft.

Rules of punctuation are seen as imposing an artificial structure on the message, and that artificiality is rooted in the class and gender hierarchies in the society. For all I know, that linguistics viewpoint might be correct, but reading a block of text that had all of the periods and commas shaken out of it leaves me thinking that the writer needs to be shaken a bit (but not stirred).

Additionally: Paragraphs, people. This is really more of an issue with the fiction section (and sometimes other posts) but putting twenty-seven sentences into one paragraph, especially when half those sentences are run-ons and should be further divided, renders the text essentially unreadable. Oh I totally agree. I completely laugh my ass off every time I see some 19 year old twink on grindr call himself a "freak" in his grindr profile because he wears a puppy hood yet hes never done anything remotely freaky, or the guys that talk your ear off about how kinky and perverted they are, how much they want to blow a raw load in your ass, and then block you when you tell them youre poz undetectable. These people need to crawl before they walk.

Or the 20-year old "top" who describes himself as a "Master".

Haha ikr

"Im a 'freak' but please no one over the age of 23 years old, and you must wear a condom, and I might consider letting you tie me up and spank me if I see your face and I think youre cute." NEXT.

Its 50 Shades of Gray compared to the 120 Days of Sodom. These new generations have a lot to learn. At their age I was taking piss in my ass in professional porn when piss porn was hardly a thing on the internet, and indiscriminately letting 15 strangers a night at every bathhouse I could get into blow raw loads into me while slapping me in the face and spitting on me lmao. Nowadays I guess wearing a puppy hood and taking a lovetap to the ass makes you a "freak".
