If you get ghono, chlamydia, syphilis, or HIV those diseases only really affect yourself and those that make consensual (hopefully) decisions to engage in sex with you. If you get Covid you could potentially kill or cause permanent health damage to your family, friends, co-workers, or some random person you pass in the grocery store. Being part of a super spreader event can also paralyze your community, schools, businesses, and your local economy. The implications are significantly more than just infecting yourself. With you Jeff. I have elderly parents that I am keyworker and carer to. I have put myself at risk on so many levels, but Covid puts my loved ones at risk, that is not worth taking any risks. Also I am essential keyworker in Public facing health services that I do not wish to be a superspreader. I'm with @Justaholeff and @DarkroomTaker, very mindful of COVID.....what I bring on myself is one thing; what I bring onto others is a different ballgame altogether. Not risking it. I have a young relative that has all the symptoms and is being tested for it right at this moment, and everyone is worried. I have people that I do shopping for because of covid. Like most of the US, my area has spiked in cases. Sex has been around forever, it will still be there after covid is under control, and I plan on making up for lost time when it is. Like many who've posted in this thread, I worry more about the people I might expose (especially my parents) than for myself. I'm a rather risk-tolerant person, and tend to view risks with some equanimity and ability to look at the numbers more than the scary - that's why I don't worry too much about having bare sex (and at this point I've tripped on those risks enough to have a pretty good idea of them!). One thing you may find helpful in keeping it in perspective is to remember there are multiple factors in the Covid risk of an activity - how many people are you exposed to, how closely are you exposed, and whether the environment is conducive to transmission. An example - if I hook up with just one guy, and we take it outdoors (while the weather permits), that's a pretty low-risk event compared to some other things I do on a weekly basis. But like a lot of others here - I have family that are at high risk. So my choices boil down to - lay low and spend time with the ones I love OR get laid. If I opt for the get laid, I cannot spend time with loved ones. Seems like an easy one for my situation Everyone is different. And to you health workers and care givers on this thread....
