HPV how to deal with it?

Question: are you suggesting that your friend believes he's stayed HIV negative because he stopped bottoming in 1984 (certainly a valid conjecture) or that somehow getting anal warts removed with laser surgery in 1984 has rendered him immune to HIV (which would be laughable)?

He completely stopped having anal sex in 1984 he was mostly bottom but sometimes vers and he was deeply embarassed about the anal warts, did not want to infect anyone else, etc.

Then he's probably right that (having dodged infection up to that point), his change in sexual practices probably kept him from becoming HIV+.

HPV infection is extremely common. I've been getting treated for years but a colorectal surgeon. They take frequent biopsies and remove anything that looks remotely problematic.

I have had four colorectal procedures since March of 20202.  I had a fissure that would not heal, and they did two botox treatments so that I wasn't screaming every time I went to the bathroom.  I changed doctors and since that time, she found what she called a "pre-cancerous" lesion that she removed.  At this point, I only have to see her every six months, and possibly be hospitalized again in a year so she can take "another look" to see how I am doing.  I was told the chances of these HPV lesions becoming cancerous are about 5 to 10 percent, and I only had the one

Here's my question?  Has this had an adverse effect on your sex life.  I have been having anal sex a long time and it wasn't until I had to take hydrocodone for a foot surgery, became constipated and ended up causing a fissure while just simply going to the bathroom.  I got a lot of grief from friends saying it was from taking too many big dicks, or being DP'd (which was not the case) or that my ass was simply worn out from all the action.   I was really frank with my doctor and told her that the anal sex, at least I felt, had little to do with the fissure, and was most likely from all the pain medication.  She said it looking, the area seemed fine, except where the tear was.  She said the majority of her patients, gay and straight, have these issues because of pain meds, not anal sex.

Has this slowed you down, are you still able to enjoy yourself?  I don't go back for about five more months, I believe my last procedure was in early February.  

So, are you able to do the things you used to do, and enjoy yourself.  I am almost afraid of attempting to "climb a mountain" that is too high, if you know what I mean.  I am really glad I saw your post.  Anything you can offer as far as information is concerned, post surgery, is greatly appreciated.

Wow, you've gone through a lot! I've had problems with post op MRSA infections, but aside from that and waiting to heal I haven't been prevented from having anal sex. In my case HPV was complicated by having HIV: my immune system wasn't strong enough to prevent infection. When I switched HIV doctors, he changed up my meds so my health improved overall, and I've had many fewer problems. To my knowledge, none of the guys who have fucked me have experienced any issues. I agree it sounds like the pain meds were what really messed you up, but more importantly that's what your doctor said.

 

Hope this helps! HPV is really more or less ubiquitous from what I've heard. Everyone has them, the issue is that some strains can advance to cancer. So just keep up with regular check ups, allow yourself time to heal after any procedures and you should be fine.

PS: for constipation, I use Miralax. If you're ever on medication that could cause that problem, check with your doctor about Miralax. It's tasteless and gentle, but you have to allow time (a day or two) for it to work. My gastroenterologist had me take it every day at one point, I don't think it will interfere with any other meds but be sure to consult your doctor before taking it.

I appreciate the follow up for you. I too had MRSA infections but they never complicated my life like HPV.  Thanks for the encouraging words, I plan on following the doctor's orders.  I guess I just can't find a tactful way of asking "So, can I ever bottom again?" 🤭 I know it sounds awful, my HIV specialist is a gay man, but the cancer specialist is a young woman so it's not something I can just blurt out in her office.  I see her later in the summer, I'll be on here bemoaning the fact that I may never be able to be the power bottom I once was if she says NO to the bottoming question.

We do not know the "cause" of any type of cancer.

 

It has an association which is not valid science it's the same as stating on sunny days more people drown its because of the sun.

 

The same with when people talk about risk this is cause/effect statement yet they don't know the cause so again invalid.

I haven’t seen anything on Colorectal Cancers, though.

Well… sorta… the science does support HPV causing Cervical Cancer.

I haven’t seen anything on Colorectal Cancers, though.

HPV definitely does cause cervical cancer, and it is considered (by the scientific community) to be very likely to be a causative agent for a variety of other mucosal cancers. More details on the mechanism of the causation are still under research, and significant mechanistic evidence has been shown.

No it doesn't there is no evidence which shows cause of any type of cancer.

 

When you are a person who has been involved in science you will understand this the claims are based on association and epidemiological evidence which is meaningless mostly opinion based not science facts. (This sort of thing is good for gaining funding and fooling uneducated people in the field)

 

Here is an example on sunny days more people drown the sun is the cause (which is incorrect many other variables)

 

The study you linked to uses the same biased false info they used to claim cholesterol is the cause of heart disease yet they provide no experiemtns and keep claiming risk and cause yet show now evidence of it its complete nonsense.

Good topic...I just received my test results and i tested positive for HPV....I am kind of in a weird state, trying to figure this all out....My dr has referred me to a  colorectal specialist to see what the next steps are....Has anyone else been through this? if so would like to chat more....
