Is Big Dick Energy a Thing?

Maybe I’m crazy, but can you tell if a guy has a big dick? Is this some kind of instinct?

I think so. Guy's who are cocky or have a certain swagger usually are swinging a big one or least that's what I've found. My thoughts: it's a thing, but it's certainly far from universal. I've known guys who were very much a certain sort of cocky, who also had a large cock, and I think it's reasonable to believe the two are related.

But on the other hand, I've known a number of guys who were hung very, very well and yet who were very much more shy and reserved. 

My guess is that the ones with BDE tend to think of their appendage as a key point of their appeal, and they're happy to rely on/lead with that. And perhaps for good reason; certainly hung guys get more attention and probably (in my perception, at least) find sexual partners more readily. By contrast, the hung guys I know without BDE seem to prefer being liked for other attributes - their minds, their hearts, their general behavior, and want to avoid the kind of swagger that (sometimes) comes with knowing you're better equipped than most people you run into.

Similar experiences here too.  Generally the guys who are invested in BDE are on balance crappy sex mates.  They only think as far as their dick and leave out so much.  On the other hand, I have had lovers with big dicks and not BDE who were astoundingly great in bed.

I think we are talking about different things, I can usually tell when a guy is hung, at least in a cruising context even when they aren't arrogant about it. The guys who are arrogant about their dick size are really no different than guys who are arrogant for any other reason, yes they are usually lousy fucks because they get off more from the adulation they receive for whatever they think makes them so great rather than the physical act of fucking itself.
