The 150 academics and writers - including Margaret Atwood and Salman Rushdie (no sign of white privilege there, I would suggest) - who recently signed a letter condemning cancel culture would beg to differ.

I mean, this is literally an appeal to authority. “Cancel culture” as it’s often portrayed is misleading at best. Think of the people who were “canceled” 5 years ago. Find what they’re doing now. The overwhelming majority are still doing just fine and often are as popular as they once were. You can find examples like Kevin Spacey and Bill Cosby (both of whom honestly deserved it), but those are the exceptions. Hell, if you wanna see cancel culture, look at the far right denouncing those they held as icons and leaders of the movement less than one week ago. Ben Shapiro and others have been deemed by the insurrectionists to be traitors for calling out what they did (ignoring that Shapiro et al. decidedly fueled the conspiracy theories and supported the rally held just prior to the coup attempt).

As an aside, JK Rowling is a vocal and unapologetic TERF. That’s what people are pissed about, and rightly so.

Good thing I didn't hold my breath waiting on you to say "I told you so". I love the color blue but I don't think it would suit me as a skin tone.

Shorter version: HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. Seven MILLION votes more for Biden than for Trump. 306 electoral votes to 232 for Mango Mussolini - the same vote spread that Trump, in 2016, called "historic", "unprecedented", and a "landslide".

Don’t forget that Biden actually got more EC votes; there were two faithless electors in Texas in 2016, meaning trump actually only got 304 votes.

More Politically Correct Nonsense you are posting, You hate Gay men, fine stay out of my neighborhood Boystown.

Boystown was never an official neighborhood of Chicago nor was it an official designation of a larger neighborhood. It’s literally just a part of Lakeview, just like Wrigleyville is. Even further, people use the term Boystown differently, with some calling all of Lakeview East Boystown and others reserving it for various areas surrounding N Halsted.

Also, why are people so triggered by a name change? It’s a name, people; they’re not stripping the area of its queerness or something weird like that. And the fact that you seem to think that it’s a neighborhood only for gay men is exactly the problem.

Biden said "Inshallah" during the debate (it was discussed widely, you can look it up). We have reached a point where "liberal" presidential campaigners are now using ISIS dog-whistles during his most important public appearance of the year.

The Democrats have been sucking up to Islam for a total of 19 years now (as of this September). That's so long, they can probably barely any other thing in life. If you think "renaming something" is the worst thing that is going to be asked of American gays in a hypothetical Biden administration, you have an extremely limited scope for your world view and your imagination is so crippled and puny it should have a disabled parking permit.

I learned the term “inshallah” from a Christian professor from Tanzania back in January 2008. It’s a very common phrase with both hopeful and sarcastic meanings used by people of all religious identities, including the non religious. Calling it a dog whistle is false, and doubling down when people tell you that you’re wrong shows that you’re not acting in good faith.

  5. I love when people think that liberals are on the political left. Sure, Democrats are to the left of the Republicans, but the Republican base that supports trump is far-right. If you actually look at policy positions and potro al philosophy, you’ll notice the Dems in office (generally considered liberal) are actually center-right since they are capitalists and believe capitalism can be maintained while providing increases in social services. Leftists, on the other hand, are critical of capitalism and tend to identify as some kind of socialist, which is a very broad umbrella term. I consider myself a libertarian socialist. (Fun fact: the word libertarian was coined by socialists to describe their philosophy and wasn’t coopted by conservatives until years later.) Put another way, both major parties are firmly on the right side of the political spectrum and leftists have no real representation in government with a few exceptions, with the Squad, Bernie Sanders, Cori Bush, and Jamaal Bowman being the most prominent.

To answer the question posed above: I’ll sleep with liberals like the Dems, but if you start starting further right than that, no thanks.

    I care.

You cherry-picked what he said and left off the important few words before: “the majority of.” I’ve seen so much transphobia in the community, and the most transphobic I’ve seen is generally the cis white gay men. I know it’s anecdotal, and transphobia is everywhere outside of that group, but it’sa trend that a lot of people have noticed. Leaving out the context provided in the original post is deceitful, even if that wasn’t your intent.
