Knightfalconer Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Two more examples (slightly out of date now though): 'Gatorade' is a brand of sports/energy drink (popular in the US), often referred to in these stories. Despite its introduction into the UK in 2008, its still far less well known (I'd never heard of it until joining this website), or widely available here. People of an older generation are more likely to refer to 'Lucozade', whilst younger generations will probably refer to 'Red Bull' or 'Monster'. In the latter half of the 20th Century, 'Durex' was (& remains), a well known brand of condoms in the UK, but at the same time in Australia, it was a brand of adhesive tape! The tape is no longer produced under this name due to a growing awareness of its connection to a type of contraceptive.
