Elastrator castration play

I recently bought an elastrator with medium and small rings. I can’t fit my balls in the small outside of my first try but is there an easier way to cut the band off? I’ve been toying with the idea of castration but am scared to go longer than 30 minutes as it’s hard to remove easily (with ice and I would rather them removed professionally so this is just play, for now)
