Kansas is seriously vying for the "most backward state" title. Last week these same clowns passed a law restricting abortions once a fetal heartbeat can be detected. That's a popular misconception. The shortness of average lifespans resulted from very high infant mortality. Those who didn't die in infancy generally lasted until their teeth did them in (well beyond 30). Fifty to sixty-year olds were pretty common (and are what was considered elderly).
