Administrators rawTOP Posted April 15, 2012 Administrators Report Posted April 15, 2012 If you're interested in learning more about HIV2, you should look at this article for clinicians... http://www.hivguidelines.org/clinical-guidelines/adults/human-immunodeficiency-virus-type-2-hiv-2/?utm_source=Human+Immunodeficiency+Virus+Type+2+%28HIV-2%29&utm_campaign=HIV-2&utm_medium=email A few important points... HIV2 infection is often misdiagnosed and should be treated differently than (regular) HIV1 infection. HIV2 is more mild than HIV1 and less likely to kill you. HIV2 doesn't respond to ARVs as well as HIV1 and doesn't respond at all to certain classes of ARVs (which is why proper diagnoses is important).
