Hi.  I have been on Truvada for a week now.  I tested HIV negative through a blood test at my doctors office 3 weeks prior to getting my Truvada prescription.  I am pretty confident that I didn't get exposed to HIV recently, prior to starting Truvada, but just wanted to take the HIV home test today just to be sure.  However, the OraQuick test states something like, if you are on preventive treatment for HIV this test is NOT for you.  Glad I saw that before paying $ 45 for it.

Does anyone know why people on PrEP should not do this test?  Does PrEP possibly cause a false result with oral swab hiv tests?   Thanks

What's the actual wording on the paperwork of the test?

I'd assume that Oraquick will take longer to show positive than other tests so it's not great for the PrEP protocol. 4th generation testing, and better PCR testing are much better to tell if you got a breakthrough infection or not.
