nvanguy1 Posted December 31, 2019 Report Posted December 31, 2019 I’ve been hearing that Twitter is going to ban porn. Is this real or just a terrible rumour? Twitter has become my go-to since tumblr removed it all, especially for bb.
billy Posted January 3, 2020 Report Posted January 3, 2020 I heard the same thing.. but it's not done so yet, so prob just a rumor
Guest BreedMeInVegas Posted January 3, 2020 Report Posted January 3, 2020 I haven't seen anything noticeable pointing to them announcing that they will start doing it, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time. The same thing will happen to Twitter that happened to Tumblr, Apple will threaten to remove the app from their store because it violates the app store policy. That policy is what creates the cash flow for Apple and the App makers, advertising revenue. So like Tumblr, when Twitter does the same thing it will simply be so they can keep their advertising revenue stream coming in. But unlike Tumblr, porn accounts on Twitter are a very small percentage, most of them created after the change at Tumblr, so even with the loss of porn accounts, their revenue will be mostly unaffected. So expect Twitter to be fast and thorough when it cleans house. With Tumblr, they lost 75% of traffic in the week following. And also, this isn't censorship, it's a private company implementing rules that are legal. No one is forced to used Twitter or Tumblr, so you either play by their rules, or use a different platform. It's similar to why Gab was created after Twitter started shadowbanning people they didn't agree with.

First, it's web based only, they don't have an app because it was rejected by Apple when they submitted it. Second, I doubt there's much porn on there because the idea came out of Twitter banning people that don't share the same political views as Twitter does. So it's pretty much all political content. It's basically Gab.com or you can Google Gab which will actually show the result from time to time, but they shadow ban it as well. DuckDuckGo would be your best bet if you want to search for it. But again, the site has nothing to do with what you find here, so no need to visit it unless you can relate to the content they have on there.

I was hoping that it would be a replacement in the same fashion as tumblr or Twitter. Thanks man!
