As strange as it sounds, I try not to hire people in New York State. NY's laws on employee vs independent contractor are onerous to small businesses like mine so I hire out of state and ideally out of country. If I were a bigger company having someone as a part-time employee wouldn't be a big deal. But at my size it is a big deal. Quote
