Again, due to the translation quality I'm not sure what you're asking. If you mean do we agree with the doctor that nearly all gay men who bareback will be poz one day? No. He is clearly not up to date on how PrEP prevents HIV infection, possibly because wherever you are (since it's clearly not a country where English is the majority language) PrEP is not widely available. If PrEP *IS* widely available there, then he's just ignorant. He's correct, however, that as long as people are on treatment, they can live productive lives while being HIV+. You'd have to clarify which one you're asking.

The symbol after "agree" is literally called a "question mark" in English.

Where - in what country - do you live? Surviving HIV (AIDS) depends on your access to healthcare. I think your doctor meant to give you the facts, but perhaps - maybe - you misunderstood so I'll give them in my own words: - If you have bareback sex, especially with other men you have a high risk to catch HIV, which if left untreated will develop into AIDS inevitably. You have a higher risk than most heterosexual, because anal sex (fucking ass / having your ass fucked) carries a much higher risk of transmission of the HIV-virus. - When you use PrEP, the chances of catching HIV are (virtually) zero, or at least very low. * But you can still catch other STD's, and infect others with those. That's why when using PrEP doctors will also advise you to still use condoms to protect against STD's. - If you have access to health-care, if you do become infected with the HIV-virus, in almost all case you can be treated by taking medicinal drugs for the rest of your life. But you cannot ever be cured. Can you understand this? What wasn't clear to you in what your doctor told you?

Totally agree 100% what you have said, you need to access to sexual health services not a GP.

But it's not what I meant or said... I was referring to if someone gets infected with HIV: someone who's HIV-positive needs specialist care not given by Sexual Health Services but Hospital Specialists. Sexual Health Services are perfect for screening and treatment of STD's, and perhaps - depending on where you live - for acces to PrEP. Often a General Practitioner (GP) / (General) Family Doctor / Family Physician / Médecin Généraliste / Huisarts / Médico de Cabecera is the first doctor you can talk to about your sexual health and HIV/Aids. This doctor might also be able to prescribe PrEP, has the testing done and council you when using it. For a large part where you live and how health-care is organised and financed in your country, dictates where you should go. That's why I asked the OP where he is from, besides it being handy to take into account what language is his mother-tongue as it sounds like English is not.
