rawfuckr Posted September 25 Report Posted September 25 [think before following links] https://www.drugtopics.com/view/lenacapavir-for-prep-demonstrates-strong-efficacy-in-second-phase-3-trial Had better hopes for lenacapavir in MSM group but 2 infections happened on the drug arm and adherence can't be questioned here (it's an injectable twice a year). Seems daily truvada/descovy is still closer to 100% than the injectables (apretude and lenacapavir) with good adherence.

Seems daily truvada/descovy is still closer to 100% than the injectables (apretude and lenacapavir) with good adherence. It's not though. They showed a 96% risk reduction with the injectable. Truvada is more like 80-90% even with high (>80%) adherence (also see [think before following links] https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanpub/article/PIIS2468-2667(22)00106-2/fulltext where the were 73 PrEP failures, they saw 93% risk reduction in their highest adherence group). Recent review ([think before following links] https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9096492/) still shows an infection rate of 9 per 1000 per person year with Truvada and high adherence.
rawfuckr Posted September 25 Author Report Posted September 25 I'm talking about daily real adherence. That study adds to the high adherence group people who were skipping doses here and there. With daily adherence truvada is north of 99% clearly. So if you are capable of taking a pill and a day you'll still be ahead efficacy wise from the injectables.
