What determines the order of stories?

In the story forums (General Bareback Sex Stories, Bug Chasing & Gift Giving FICTION, Chen Sex FICTION, etc.), what determines the order the stories appear? The order rotates on a regular basis, is it by most recent comments or something else?

The default order is most recently updated (ie most recent comment).

You can choose other sort orders from the "sort order" dropdown in the upper right corner of the topic content pane

I'd never seen the sort order drop down!  Every days a school day :)  Thanks Viking :)
