Does love and sex have different standards?

I have been flirting with this cute young man at my gym and we spend some time talking about things including gays and sex in th sauna. I flirt with him a lot and he always responds back with equal flirting and strong vibes. I believe at least from his talks that he has had some same sex experiences. 

The other day I saw him outside a restaurant where I too was waiting  for my take out. He was with a young woman and I don't mean any disrespect to women however the woman he was with was overweight. Many men wouldn't even give her a second look forget thinking about bedding with her. 

Next time when we were together in the gym I asked him about the woman who was with him at the restaurant. He told me that she is his girlfriend. Trust me I dropped the weights out of surprise. 

That raised a lot of questions about human behavior. When it comes to straight sex men wouldn't mind stocky or even overweight women however to fuck a bottom they want a lean athletic flat stomach and what not. 

I have no answer for this male behavioral contradiction except hypocrisy. What do you guys think? Please don't disrespect women when you give your opinion.

So first off- at least for the majority of men- love and sex are two entirely separate things. Not the case for most women.  It’s both genetic and physiological, and society reinforces it. Men are preprogrammed to plant their seed in as many places as possible and women are preprogrammed to mate for life. It’s science.

So is sexual identity, sexual preference, fetishes and kinks- and in a time when the idea of these “lines” have been challenged and are seen now as a spectrum instead - so I think there are some unfair assumption in your question.

as a middle aged attractive man who doesn’t work out and isn’t buff at all, I am continually surprised by the hot young men who are legit into me. Go to a bear party- there’s a huge community that’s less superficial but you’re not going to meet them at the gym 😆
