  1. Any testing in UK at least is done by informed consent; especially sexual health related ones, any other tests done would potentially lead to criminial charges against the person completing the test.
  2. Couple of points:- Article doesn't use "higher than in the original AIDs Crisis" Nearly half of the 6280 are gay men - that means more heterosexuals were diagnosed http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-20526380 And HIV infections in the UK have reached an all time high: higher than in the original AIDs Crisis Half of all the new infections are gay men (I was surprised only half, but lots of straights don't use condoms either but they are completely unaware of HIV); 1 in 20 gay men have HIV; 1 in 4 don't know they have it
  3. HIV is covered by equalities act and your employer doesn't have to know - you have to disclose it to occupational health BUT this is no barrier to employment as a nurse. ALl occupational health with say is either any adaptations to work or resitrictions on duties.
