But when a new infection occurs, it's not the result of many viruses—just one variant is transmitted. This is known as the "transmission bottleneck," and scientists have struggled to explain it.
The UVA researchers, including Jackson, David Rekosh and Dr. Marie-Louise Hammarskjöld, say the bottleneck may result in part from variations in the viral Rev protein and how it interacts with a part of the viral RNA known as the Rev response element, or RRE. The interaction is needed for the virus to make copies of itself in the cytoplasm inside our cells.
The UVA team looked at Rev-RRE activity in viruses during vaginal HIV transmission and found that the viruses that established the new infections tended to show low Rev-RRE activity. That suggests that naturally occurring variations in Rev-RRE activity may determine which viruses start a new infection. It also may allow the virus to adapt to different "fitness landscapes," which could play a key role in how HIV takes hold inside a new person.
"This is a new insight into HIV transmission," Hammarskjöld said. "If the Rev-RRE system is important here, it could also be important for other aspects of HIV disease, including how the virus establishes lifelong infections."

Certainly both parties have essentially the same conservative politics for the most part. Biden is certainly not Trump but he is also incapable of criticizing failed US policies (esp. ecological policies) and effectively leading to something like a progressive future.

How ironic. The only house parties I've ever been to were in Philly, and now quite a while ago. I know of none at all in DC or Baltimore., of any kind. Then 1 raw fuck party in Newark.

This is a good point. However NYC has a population of 8.4 M of which it seems that more than 10% are gay males. If NYC people were coming to Philly then it should be flooded with people.

It's a little strange. I don't live in Philly but used to travel there a fair amount. In the early 2000's there were a lot of bb guys around Philly, some of whom showed up here. I would have definitely expected more guys from Philly here but it isn't so.
The newish semi-private party scene in NYC may just be attracting more people to NYC.

In my opinion with a place like that where you would expect a rule out of the ordinary to apply perhaps make it more pronounced.
I like to bring toiletries, an extra towel, sometimes a change of clothes. Had I known I would have left it all at home. I wasn’t about to go home unpack and head back out. I can’t explain how annoyed I was that night!
Not to mention there was security, why couldn’t they search my bag to see nothing illegal?!
In the past (like within the past 2 years or so) Steamworks Chicago did search bags. Also at some point the bag had to be clear although that could be in another bag. I was luckily permitted entry on a layover flight from Europe. But they seem to change their rules fairly frequently.

WOW! That's supposed to be 81 chances in one trillion (US trillion, 10^12). So this is supposed to be impossible if the tests had been done 3 months or more after infection. That's really astounding.

Just go and check it out. I have been in gay saunas/bathhouses/gay sex clubs all over the world - all of them let you bring your own lube. Steamworks in Chicago has gotten a little weird about that though and one venue in NYC was suspicious of liquids being brought in, but aside from them it's not an issue (in fact it's a necessity - no one has enough lube for a packed club and clubs still can get packed).
