You're comparing Cher with Tim Skylar?

Believe me, Tim does not stand in the public's eye. Every porn star usually doesn't, let alone someone who is as unimportant as he is.

I don't think he was comparing the two but using Cher as an example. Porn stars whether you like them or not and you obviously don't like Tim Skyler have thier fans and they get thier share of fans who think that they are these objects who will sleep with anyone and those fans write, email and even stalk. I can just see one being out and some fan who know no boundaries running up to them and giving them a kiss. And also you have to remember some porn stars might not be so outgoing off the camera they might have social anxiety which can easily be misconstrued as being a rude bitch.

Well, if Cher was used as an example then it was a bad example because everyone knows Cher and even among the gay community only a handful of people would know who Tim Skylar is.

Also, your examples are wildly exaggerated - you are talking about fans stalking him, giving him a kiss, etc. whereas it all started with the discussion that Skylar seems very unfriendly and arrogant in online conversations on various message boards.

I don't remember which forum it was and what he wrote exactly but what I do recall is that I found him to be very rude and especially arrogant in his comments - all the time.

I remember this so well because I thought: Well if he looked terrific, I still would not tolerant his arrogant commnets but coming from someone with his looks, I simply don't understand where he would find the nerve for arrogance at all. I know everyone has a different opinion on what is beautiful and what is not. But I am pretty sure if you asked 100 gay people if they thought Skylar was a handsome guy, many would disagree.

Let me start by saying that if I took your survey I'd probably say I don't find him attractive also. Let me also say that I don't particularly enjoy any of his work. I also witnessed some of the comments he made online in the past, they weren't nice.

That said, I think there is something very wrong with your contention that he should not be able to express himself or exhibit certain personality traits based on your perception of his appearance. Some might even think it "unfriendly" or "arrogant"...

About the "five second" simple act of saying thank you... just for a moment, imagine if YOUR phone was blowing up 40 times a day with people complimenting you (whether or not they are being fascinated by things that you may or may not consider to be your favorite feature). It night be fun... for the first day.. or two. But wouldn't that get pretty damn old and tiring after a week? Hundreds of tired old queens who you cannot and will not ever see... firing off well-wishes while they jerk off about how sexy it is that your nose is shaped this way or your shoulder has a sexy birthmark you never even knew existed...

That shit would get tiresome as FUCK if I had to say thank you to each and every comment about me. And let's be honest, how many people just say "You're cute"? it's usually "You're cute, I want to fuck you, when are you coming to Schittsburgh so you can suck my cock and you can dominate me and take me home as your slave". How do you even answer a question like that (nevermind the fact that if you do, the sender will follow up with 20 more texts and posts even more vague and pointless than the first.)

Yes, the occasional "Thank you" might be nice, but you have NO idea what it's like to be in the public eye. Did Cher ever answer that fan letter you sent her in the 6th grade? No. Maybe you got a form letter back from her publicist. Porn stars don't make enough money to hire a staff to respond to every tweet and twitter. And no self-respecting human would spend 5 minutes x 100 messages = 6+ hours each day answering the stupid, inane messages that porn fans send to the people they're too lazy to go out and actually stalk.

Guys, this actually does happen to me at least 40 times a day, and yes -- it really gets old. Thank you, Deaner, for trying to understand how trying my life is.

I never said that he is not allowed to express himself of the way he looks. That's what you wanted to read.

I said that I don't understand where his arrogance comes from. I understand that Paris Hilton for example is arrogant - most people would say she looks decent and she is very famous (for whatever reason). I get that. But someone like Tim Skylar? Where does the arrogance come from? I mean, I understand where the bitterness comes from because many of his comment were quite bitter, especially those about people he worked with in the industry. But where does the arrogance come from?

arrogant = having an exaggerating sense of one's own importance

Depends on the gay people you ask. But I am not about asking others what they think when it comes to porn stars I like and don't like because that is my decision, and my dicks. lol

I am over this thread. Can we agree you dislike Skyler based on your experiences with him and how you find him in the looks dept. and myself and some others like him and find him attractive. Lets just respect each others different views and move on.

Sorry, perhaps you thought I was making a blanket statement regarding him expressing himself or his personality, my intent was to be specific to the comments in question. If you read my response in the context of the conversation I think you'll realize we are essentially saying the same thing. You judge his comments as arrogant. You then commented that you do not understand how he could make such arrogant comments because you do not find him to be attractive. This suggests that you think someone should be attractive if they are to make such comments. No one has any more right to behave poorly than the next person. If Tim, or Cher, or Paris Hilton choose to make nasty comments about people they are all equally wrong. You don't get a pass for being pretty. That is all I'm getting at, feel free to disagree.

I absolutely agree with you.

What I don't understand is that you say my comment implied that I "think someone should be attractive if they are to make such comments". I then explained myself and yet you still say that I wanted to say something else.

If that's what you read from my comment, okay, I can't change that because it is your perception. But, again, it is what you want to read from my comment.

Once again, the only thing I wanted to say is that I don't understand where his arrogance is coming from. I said it before, I understand people being arrogant because they have achieved something or they are exceptionally handsome. Once again, this does not mean that I tolerate arrogance at all.

I saw that Tim posted this on Facebook under his real name account and thought I would share it in this thread as it may explain some of the behavior those of you who found him to be rude, arrogant, and standoffish experienced.  As a sufferer of anxiety I myself know that when you have a mental condition such as depression, anxiety it can cause you to be perceived negatively by others because they see your behavior and are not aware that you have a mental health condition so it gets taken personally.  Anyway here is the post:

After Robin Williams' apparent suicide, I've decided that I might as well come out and say that I too have been battling depression for years. In all honesty, it's been worse than ever these past couple of months. There have been days where I didn't necessarily want to die, but I certainly didn't want to be alive. For some people, the world is just harder. Life is harder. Though I'm having what would be considered a "good" day (I actually credit the rain for that, I think. The rain has always calmed and soothed me. I feel as though it can, to put a spin on something Hilary Duff once sang, "wash away my insanity."), I know there are days ahead, perhaps even this week, that with leave me stressed and scared and alone.. But hopefully, somehow, I'll get through it. Maybe with a little help from my friends. I think Harvey Fierstein recently said it best: "Don't fuck with depression, people."

Are you kidding me?  Playing the Robin Williams "card"?

He's not alone in doing that.   For some reason when a celebrity has soemthing happen to them such as with Robin Williams it causes some people to open up about themselves and that can only be a good thing in my opinion.  There is too much stigma about mental health issues that cause people to not seek help.

Seaguy....I value your perspective (especially given your prolific and--more importantly--profound contributions to this site).  I am just not buying it when it comes to Mr.Tim Skyler / Aaron Burr.

He is a bit of a cunty bitch from my past experience here in Philadelphia.  Perhaps it is a "boi" body image issue with which he has problems.  And if he has some emotional/mental challenges, I would encourage him to avail himself of a variety of resources within the Gayborhood.

Some people are just bitches, I've met a few.

I take a prozac (fluoxetine) and it works for me.   Went off it when I was trying to determine if I had high blood pressure of if it was a side effect of medications and when I was off it I didn't want to get out of bed just did not have the desire to take on the day.  Got back on it and was back to normal.  Though it took me a while to find an anti-depressant that didn't give me sexual side effects.
