night vision cameras

Any recommendations for a night vision camera? Do they come in the small size like a regular digital cam? Do they shine their own light, if so, is it dim or invisible?

I've missed out on taking some seriously hot video for lack of light!!

My quick search of my favorite techno-toy provider suggests you're going to spend some significant cash to get a compact, night vision digi cam.

They can be pricey but if you look for the right one you might find a good deal. Check out Bell & Howell I got an inexpensive night vision camcorder last year and it works great. It doesn't actually shine a light in night vision just the LED. The view screen gives off more light than anything else when in night vision. Not as cheap as a regular camera, but if you have a couple hundred to spend it's not bad.

not cheap and they dont produce light, they use what little there is and amplify it so it can be seen on vid. the screen will obviously light up though
