Things became a bit weird... I got my reactive results on Friday of last week. My doctor told me I needed to make an appointment with an ID specialist, and they recommended one in particular. They told me to call and they also said they would call on my behalf to make sure I was seen by the doctor ASAP. I never got a call back from this doctor, so I called her office today. They never got any of the messages, and they told me the doctor doesn't handle HIV. A few days ago, I was talking to a poz guy in my area, and asked if he knew about this particular doctor. He said that he's heard of her, and she's pretty good. Not sure what to make of all this.

I called a different ID specialist, and I have an appointment for next Wednesday. I tried calling a large ID practice about 30 minutes away, but they couldn't see me till August. I called other doctors from my insurance company's website, but they're either not taking new patients, or they're only in their offices one day per week and won't pick up. Is it normally this hard to get an appointment? I just want my confirmation test, because the waiting is killing me. I've had nonstop diarrhea for nearly the last two weeks, and I've lost 8 lbs., mostly from stress. I live in fucking New Jersey, not the middle of nowhere, so it shouldn't be this difficult. This has become utterly frustrating.

I moved your post to a new thread in the Sexual Health section where it will get more exposure. And I added a link to the original thread in case people want to read what's been said so far.

I tested positive on 4/20 last year and couldn't get to see the ID specialist I was initially referred to for six weeks. It was mid July by the time I got in to see the one I have stayed with. Stick with it. Unfortunately, testing HIV positive is not considered by the medical community to be an emergency. At least now they are coming to the agreement that starting meds as soon as possible is a good thing, so maybe they will turn around. Hang in there. ( As sick as I was, I was lucky I didn't have diarrhea.) Weird how differently it affects us all.
