Dean Monroe retiring

Dean Monroe, one of my favourite porn stars, is retiring.

He always had a very clean cut image; only shot with condom studios until last year when he did an oral scene for Treasure Island Media (I think it was on the Overload DVD).

He got quite a lot of backlash from fans for doing that scene, but what seems to have prompted his retirement is the fact that no other studios would go near him now he'd worked with TIM, even though it was only an oral scene.

Seems quite sad it can end a career like that.

Who knows, maybe in year or two he'll start shooting bareback and will be back.

Never heard of him, but I doubt that is the reason why he wasn't hired anymore.

The porn industry is tough competition and sometimes performers do not get booked anymore because their time is over. Of course it is easy for him to blame the fact that he did a scene for TIM for that.

Just ran into this thread.  He must have gotten some work as a scene from Cocky Boys came out last month featuring him.  He has way longer hair in it and it looks good on him. It is a condom scene, & I just saw stills, so I don't know how good it is.

 

I do wonder how much his age, and how long he has been doing porn, may have played into not getting work. I do realize this may not be a good argument as there are a lot of more mature guys working - of course most are tops not bottoms.

 

He is married in real life to bareback pornstar Anton Dickson, and Anton had a tumblr and blog where he posted lots of personal info like pictures from vacation trips they took together.  Anton was also pretty open about the fact that though married their sex lives were seperate since Anton is poz and Dean isn't. Also Anton likes to bb lots of cute bottoms.  He had an xtube account for a while with private home vids posted, and also posted lots of stuff on his tumblr about his conquests.  Sometime in the last year all of those accounts disappeared - the tumblr and xtube account are gone.

 

 

One of the reasons I find it weird that Monroe would feel that he is being "blackballed" is this past October I was in NY and went to Hustler Ball.  That night there was a good mix of both bb stars like Rocco Steele & I think I also saw Cutler X (but I was too shy to approach & talk to him) as well as condom only guys like Nick Capra who fucked Brent Corrigon live on stage (all the live fucking was with condoms) and Raphael Alencar (who I scared a bit by being too much of a fanboy LOL).  They al seemed to be getting along, but then the studios that sponsored the event included ones like Bel Ami and Lucas which have lots of bb now.

 

In his blog post Monroe mentions MEN.com by name, which is a condom only studio with mostly gay for pay actors.  They crank out the scenes so if you want to subscribe to a site with lots of content thats what you get, but most are complete shit.  Terrible old school scenes with dumb set ups like, "oh I sprained my leg running, can you massage it?"  So if he was pissed about not getting work there the only reason would be that maybe they pay better than some other studios.
