Email Notification Delays?

I follow several topics and set my account to receive immediate notifications if there is an update.

I haven't really paying attention but now and then I saw I received notifications within minutes or just 1-2 hours at the most after there was a new post.

 

Today I received notifications there were new posts in the General > "Your last Load...." topic. When I read them I saw those were posted a week ago. Not minutes or a few hours. How come?

Can there be a difference in email notifications between different topics? Or new topics and replies?

 

I know that in this particular thread most are new topics, not replies to an existing one (unless you had clicked to follow that thread before). Is that it? I haven't really noticed such delays in other threads (new posts or replies).

 

I hope I made clear what the problem is. If not, let me know. Thanks.
