They know it will only be “simple assault” even if they get caught. It’s the decent people that need a handgun to protect ourselves. I highly recomment training. A lot of the classes I have had are how to avoid the legal hassle of shooting someone, and the length of time it takes to decide you need to pull your weapon. (Hint: NOT MUCH) As for rifles, an oooh scaaary AR-15 shoots the same bullet as a wood stock varmint rifle. If you wanted to protect the schools you could.
