Thanks for the great explanation! I will for sure read more into it for clarification as well as for self-learning.

I also agree with you that it takes time for the drug to work and provide adequate protection against HIV. Last time I check, it would take about 5-7 days for the drug to reach it therapeutic concentration. And it is important to take drug everyday to maintain this. 

Even though ID isn't my specialty, I am still very interested in learning about HIV meds, especially Truvada since it is now so popular in our community.

Biochem is a great field! Super fun to learn but pretty challenging. Good thing I only had to take a course of it. But it was the one of the best course I've ever taken in college! 🙂

I agree! I didn’t know there were so many HIV infectious research scientists on this site
