I think this is where so many studios fail, and where some of those that produced limited but great output in the past succeeded: they paired up performers not just based on who was hot at the moment, but on chemistry, and if Top A and Bottom B didn't seem to have that chemistry, you could always swap over to Top C or Bottom D.
