Because this is discussing over-the-counter pills, I'm moving it into General Discussion - but thanks for being careful...

My favorite herbal pills got busted by the FDA for having a Viagra-like substance in them which is a bitch 'cause they worked... Luckily I still have some left. Thing is, I don't like Viagra - tried it and it just doesn't work the same...

LOL...ain't US drug policies great? Herbal remedies are perfectly fine and sold completely without restrictions (except for a tiny disclaimer in 2 point font stating that the FDA hasn't checked them out).

Unless, that is, they actually work and compete with the pharmaceutical companies' much more expensive prescriptions. Then they get pulled from the market.

It looks like Viapro in the US was recalled in 2008 by the FDA because it was found to contain a Viagra-like compound, thio-methisosildenafil. And then the U.S. manufacturers removed the thio-methisosildenafil and rebranded (and are currently selling) the product under the Ziapro label. From what I understand, Ziapro doesn't work nearly as well as Viapro did.

There is a Viapro product, however, that is still sold in the UK, as Slowfuck noted. Does anyone know whether the UK Viapro still contains thio-methisosildenafil or a similar Viagra-like compound?

Golden Root, identified by Holger, is also sold in the UK, but apparently not (at least under the same label) in the United States. Does anyone know whether it has the good stuff in it?

Along with other substances Viapro contains L-arginine which is reputed to have the same effect as sildenafil in Viagra. Golden Root doesn't have sildenafil either.

Does anyone know whether the UK Viapro still contains thio-methisosildenafil or a similar Viagra-like compound?
