Senator Scott has publicly said he would like to cut all Social Security benefits a minimum of 20% and to be able to vote on continuing Social Security benefits each year during Budget negotiations. Bottom line for this old man is instead of getting a 2.5% increase next year, I can expect a minimum cut in my monthly income of at least 20%. And I believe I and millions of other Seniors can kiss Medicare a fond farewell. 21 hours ago, BergenGuy said: He did say that, and then was rapidly, very rapidly, forced to retract it (the typical "I was misunderstood"). Social Security is the third-rail of politics because older people vote at a very high rate. I suspect that there's a number of things that they'll do first before having the stomach to take on Social Security. Once you say it, you mean it. Stand by for ALL government payments to be severely reduced - or abolished altogether.

I do not believe those 83 people should be billionaires, either, even if I agree with their political stances in this election. Try harder. I agree that NO ONE PERSON should be able to amass that kind of wealth. It is another indictment of the individual nations & their extremely inequitable tax systems. Having diverted from my main comment, I CANNOT COMPREHEND the damage & lives to be destroyed that Trump will elicit by giving such vital "care of the poor" portfolios as he is giving to RF Kennedy (Health) & Elon Musk (departmental budget slashing). "Hopefully" the pain caused will only last for 2yrs when the mid-terms return some sanity to the government, by the swing voters realising their mistake & leave Trump as a "Lame Duck" for the final 2yrs.of his term.
PrisonbaiT
I feel sorry for the American people, Trump returning to the white house means 4 years more chaos, and now with lunatics like Kennedy on health and Musk on goverments spendings, and Trump chasing down enemies and asylum seekers it is not a good view of the future. Foreign policies will be even more disaster. Putin has won, with endorsing Kamala, he was aiming for the opposite, and now he is laughing. He has achieved what he wanted. We can only hope for the best but it will be a bumpy ride. Hopefully they Will not shit down sites like this

You are assuming there will be mid term elections . President Elect Trump has repeatedly told his supporters that if he is elected they will never have to vote again. And I'm curious to know where the 11 million illegal migrants are going to be deported to ? Who wants them back ? And who is going to replace them working at all their low paying jobs ? 1

I have to believe because having no mid term elections that will emasculate Trump leaves, not only US citizens "up shit creek, without a paddle" but, the Australian economy will also) take an absolute battering. Even if Trump does what his previous Presidency instituted for Australia's protection will not protect us from his 60%??? tariffs for Chinese exports. Any "attack" on China will devastated Australia's trade balance & our bottom economic line. Hope is all we have 🫣🫣.

Oh, the stock market usually rallies when a Republican gets elected because they assume he'll cut business taxes (as they always do) and send more money to the billionaires who own most of the stock. If by BTC you mean bitcoin, well, garbage based on nothing more than a belief that it's worth something always soars right up until it doesn't. People who complain that the US Dollar is backed by nothing but governmental promises but praise Bitcoin because it's "decentralized" and thus think it's got any inherent value whatsoever should take note of all the other cryptoscams that have come and gone. Just because Bitcoin has managed to keep it going longer than most doesn't endow it with any value at all. 3

The working class sees this clearly and voted with its feet, which tiptoed away from name callers and toward people who realize you have to do something to get something. And it's not necessary to ban people from platforms, just prohibit some words - like they already do now if you want to monetize some contents. That is much more a woke leftist thing to do, but agreed I will not be happy if Trump does not follow through on his promise to ban censorship and government “misinformation” manipulation. This mostly happens to people on the right, but it’s also bad when it happens to people on the left. 1

I've always been a bit alarmed at video presented as comedy, "America's funniest home videos" for example; why the audience gets into fits of laughter watching someone fall and break their arm (or worse). It may seem funny that they did something so careless; but truly that reflects ignorance to their own peril. I've been more a fan of the Darwin Awards; but I never find them funny. I find @hntnhole's account a sad commentary about our present social condition. Worse, the US is not unique in this. Again, hilarious.

On victory night he was accompanied by: 1) Elon Musk, the world's richest man & 2) Gina Rinehart, Australia's richest woman with ??? BILLION in her money box. Trump will make millions for millionaires BUT, the WORKING PERSON, WILL NEVER become a millionaire. 2

Thanks for making me explain more clearly. I was thinking of illegal immigration and inflation, which affects a lot of relatively poor voters and definitely has an impact on a broader set of voters. You raise a great point, but I think the billionaire class has captured both parties. Inasmuch as Trump reduces inflation and puts economic policies in place that generate (rather than just redistribute) wealth, I think the poor are likely to notice it more. The biggest wealth transfer and destruction of economic well-being was the COVID lockdowns, which threw a lot of people out of work, wrecked a lot of small businesses and made the billionaires a lot of money. I blame Democrats much more than Republicans for that. But I still Like the point you made that tax reductions are also likely to put more money in the hands of the wealthy.
