It morphed to get-rich-schemes because of the hype (I suspect that most of "investors" don't even have a clue what it really is). If the people are hungry and don't have a place to live, the answer isn't more money, but more food and more housing. So bitcoin doesn't do much in the perspective of functioning economy, like tulips didn't during tulip mania 17th century. Thanks. Could it then be described as a "plaything" of the wealthy? Quote
