I've had texts and messages threatening me with exposure for one thing or another. I've found the best response is to tell the caller/texter/messenger to fuck off

It’s been months, but this wording sound identical to what was sent to me.

I hit <delete>, took a deep hit off my glass pipe, lubed my dick, and went cruising on line.

I’ve had one send me a list  with my family’s phone numbers and names and expected me to pay them like $1500, I just said they’d respect me more if I said no to being blackmailed than if I caved and sent the money, I never paid and he never sent the photos

A fairly classic phishing expedition.  I've gotten those too.

I have posted about this very same subject in another thread.  99.9 percent are idiots, who have no capabilities to do what they say they will do.   They found your email address from a previous hack and decided to harass you.  More than likely they are in Eastern Europe, they'll ask for payments in BitCoin and sometimes even ask for the money in Euros rather than dollars, that is a clue to any American.    They don't have your content list, and I know I never have "pleasured" myself while visiting an adult web site that they claim they recorded.  It's just a scare tactic.  Just block them and report it as spam.

Find yourself the best Malware protection that works for your type of computer, turn your location settings off on your smart phones unless you absolutely need the app.   And always use a VPN whenever possible,  I know some sites will try and force you to turn it off but I have found sometimes I can sign on with my phone and it will connect, while my laptop may not.

These people are desperate.  My former employer told me my information was on the black web, and they were right.  I have had to freeze all my credit reports and only open them for creditors when I need to.  It's part of the world we live in, it's not fun, but you can survive it.  Don't let it control your life, the person harassing you in probably sitting in the basement of his parent's house and has no idea who you are.  But protect your financial information and make sure to check your credit reports regularly.

During the covid years I had someone file for unemployment under my name. I had to freeze my accounts also. File reports with several agencies. It was a pain in the ass.

They can easily get those names and numbers off person search sites, like Spokeo etc.

People are really weird. Around 1996 I started getting weird bills in the mail and discovered that my downstairs neighbor (who had a VERY similar name to mine) using my SSN. You used to get health insurance notices that used your SSN as the record number (that's now illegal in the US). So he found my SSN and got credit using it. It was a nightmare. Took several years to sort out completely.
