onlyraw Posted February 8 Report Posted February 8 Hi guys - I am writing a story and trying to remember when did PrEP become widely available? and when did U=U start ? - and when did it become widely accepted? (U=U being undetectable = Untransmittable) on a side note - I think I participated in some of the U=U research - wondering if anyone else did i was in two different studies - but I forget when (I think the first one was maybe late 90s … is that possible- so soon after tge cocktail had been discovered?) the first one was at one of the big hospitals here in Boston- it was a female post grad researcher (which was a bit weird) - the first visit I went to tge hospital- she gave be this container and some porn mags and sent me into the men’s room to jerk off. And then bring her back tge container.. (weird handing tgis woman a plastic container with my cum in it) - weirder was the men’s room she sent me to was not a private one - but a regular one and I just went into one of tge stalls and jerked off so I asked if I could maybe do it at home … I could but I had to get the cum to her within 30 min of jerking off … fortunately I could get from my house to the hospital in enough time the next study was at the gay health center… so the person I interact with was kind of a bit younger gay guy - so that made it easier to hand over my container of cum and for that study they would just take me to an exam room and they had a lap top set up and it had a selection of porn on it and I could choose what movie I wanted to jerk off to with both I was not allowed to jerk off for three days before I was to provide my samples Quote
KindaBasic Posted February 9 Report Posted February 9 HIV activists Bruce Richman and Gus Cairns come up came up with the catchphrase U=U about 9 years ago. Studies were underway by the late 2000’s. Prep was approved by the FDA IN 2012. Quote
