sdcigarpig Posted July 19, 2012 Report Posted July 19, 2012 While the science world is still acitvely working towards a cure and a vaccine, the questions that popped into my mind is the following: What would be the result if they did find a cure for HIV and AIDS, and would you take it? Would it be effective and readily prevent the spred of disease, or would it cause more problems? Do we take the vaccine or choose to not take it and remain as is? These are the kinds of questions that should be on our minds with the professionals predicting that a vaccine would be out by 2020.
OKJOE Posted July 19, 2012 Report Posted July 19, 2012 Definitely would take it, since I would be less worried about vaccine side effects. I just wonder if they will come up with one or have to create one for all the variants of HIV out there currently and adapt it as needed. The struggle I wonder about is the meds they are offering as preventative like Truvada, recently FDA approved, that could have longterm side effects. Do you take the pill that may or may not stop conversion and risk later health issues or just take chances? No easy answers here.
HungLatinDom Posted July 19, 2012 Report Posted July 19, 2012 Why would a cure or a vaccine create more problems? Vaccines and cures make things different, but the advantages are way more than the minor side effects.
