Not sure why this is "worrisome." This is fantastic news for poz and neg alike, imo. The real enemy in this battle are the medications. True warriors abstain from such things. The true goal in this quest is full-blown AIDS and the opportunistic infections that come with it, then, immortal life and flight with former veterans through the ethereal cosmic sphere.

The report was worded in such a way as to be somewhat sensationalist and overstating the case. In truth there has been only a very slight increase in tenofovir-resistant HIV in a few locations. Afraid that's all the information to hand: go digging and you'll find the original report.

Nothing new about this, hiv2 is resistant to a lot of stuff out there concerning meds, I'm one of the lucky ones to have this strain & very toxic too - Loving bugging guys up.

I would take this report with a commonsense approach. The people who single out one medication in the article have never taken tritherapy in their lives. It is exactly as stated: TRI-therapy. it is a series of three medicationsused daily ofr the rest of the patient's life. Many of the doctors who work on HIV/AIDS research are really knowledgeable about the meds, and know which ones work, and which don't. Part of the reason why it took so long to come up with the protocol of three medications is that researchers were depending on one medication to do the job, and when it failed, they abandoned it, and looked for the next miracle cure. Later, it was found that using two medications offered up some hope, but this approach failed as well. Triple therapy has worked so far, if taken consistently.
