Do you guys want a bareback tube site?

A friend of mine in the porn business has been pushing me hard to start a tube site. It took a lot of pressure, but I'm thinking of doing it. If I do it I'd have it be a mix of 1) real, authentic amateur videos, and 2) 4+ minute promo videos from pay sites.

In other words you guys could upload videos you make of you and your fuck buds. However, you won't be allowed to upload commercially produced videos - the videos have to be of you and your friends. I have zero interest in getting sued and don't care to contribute to piracy - there's plenty of decent free stuff out there and if you want better stuff, pay a few bucks...

I don't think I can host the tube site on my current server, so getting it up and started is a pretty big investment (software costs + additional hosting charges), so I want your input on it to make sure I do it right...

Is this something you guys want? Would you upload videos of yourself and your buds, or just watch?

Any suggestions on things to avoid? Or features you like on other tube sites that you'd want to see on my site?

The software package I'm thinking of using can integrate with the software that runs this forum. So user names and passwords would be shared between the two sites.

Anyway, let me know what you think of the idea...

I think it's a great idea! I love amateur raw porn, it's usually better than anything else around in my opinion. I don't have any regular fuck buds and don't hook up much so I'll have to say I will be just watching unless someone else wants to do it with me. Just my 0.2c.

The area of difficulty I foresee is getting barebackers to upload home movies sufficiently often to keep it fresh. I have no camera skills and I wouldn't want my face to appear on video in sexual situations. A lot of the xtube amateur videos are poorly lit, but there are frequent amateur bareback uploaders to xtube - I've subscribed to many of them. I guess the xtube uploaders need to be enticed to the new site.

I have no idea of the costs involved in maintaining a video site. I would use the site, but I don't know if it would break even.

Perhaps guys who would be willing to upload can say so in this thread.

The issue is that there are very real costs for running a tube site and even ones with lots of sponsor videos sometimes have problems breaking even. Hell, the people who own XTube have nearly gone into personally bankruptcy a few times. It's a tricky balance. If you want something that will last, there has to be a commercial element to it. All I can do is limit the sponsor videos to decent length, high-quality ones. But they gotta be there.

I would welcome commercial bareback porn vids of decent quality and length ( like RawTOP said ). If users get a free service, ads are inevitable and a price worth paying.

Well, I've started looking into it. Basically my plan it to extend this site and give you guys a tube site and a video chat site (which will take care of the chat feature some of you want).

BUT, it's gonna cost me some $$$ - about $500 for the tube site software, another $150 for the chat software and then I'll need to pay for hosting. Haven't gotten the price for hosting yet, but I'm expecting it to be $300 per month (maybe more). My point being - doing this stuff right costs money. I know some people don't like the commercial nature of my sites, but I'm not running a charity. I gotta cover my costs (and my time)... Having a commercial element is the only way these things can last and grow. Even so, tube sites and video chat sites burn through so much bandwidth it's questionable whether I'll make a profit off these new sites or not. I think I'll do OK, but the original owners of XTube nearly went bankrupt on several occasions - there's a fair amount of risk for me with these sites...

I'd just like to say that I understand the money issue and maybe you could do just one, even just for now. I'd vote for a chat, as there are many tube sites around with bb content and I'm not aware of as many bb chat rooms. Just my thoughts.

If I'm going to pay monthly hosting of $300 I want to get as much out of it as possible. Doing everything makes more sense.

I fully agree, rawTOP! Ad a topic with a poll about this topic and see how many of us are willing to pay for it, I know I will! But do good research on the hosting part and the amount of bandwidth, I am fairly sure that you'll find lower rates outside the U.S. I know here in Europe prices are much lower.

I do plan to have paid upgrades to help defray the cost. On the tube site the upgrade will give you higher quality video (HD, if it's uploaded), and on the chat site it will let you do more. Don't exactly know the details yet - have to see what makes sense once it's in action. But the idea is that there will be something (decent) for free users and full bells and whistles for people who upgrade.

Yes and no... I could probably get away with a less expensive server, but it seems the name of the game in tube sites is "go big or go home". The more bandwidth you use the the cheaper the bandwidth (per unit), but it also becomes a higher stakes game since if you fail to cover your costs there's more money on the table... That's how the former owners of XTube nearly went into bankruptcy...
