nastymontanaboy Posted April 18, 2023 Report Posted April 18, 2023 Hi, I wanted to upgrade my sling a little bit and thought about getting the sling springs from Fort Troff. However, $100 is a steep for some springs. Anyone know what type of springs would be a good substitute at the hardware store? Quote
RealCute Posted April 18, 2023 Report Posted April 18, 2023 If you have a farming type store in your area check them out they should have all types of different Springs or if have a real old school bed frame they used to have some pretty heavy duty springs on them. Quote
Bibttmmiami Posted April 18, 2023 Report Posted April 18, 2023 Check for a weight rating on the springs. I wouldn’t go less than 300lbs per spring. Quote
tallslenderguy Posted April 18, 2023 Report Posted April 18, 2023 (edited) Here's a link, i checked out tension springs for a hammock or porch swing, which would be simimilar (actually more) weight than a sling holding one person distributed between four points vs 2 points on a swing or hammock that might hold 2 people. ErosWired Posted April 22, 2023 Report Posted April 22, 2023 If I might ask, why are you considering springs versus, say, chain? Chain supports have the advantage of incremental adjustability for height, by simple repositioning of connectors. I can imagine springs becoming problematic in achieving optimal fucking height depending on the variable weight of different occupants. 1 Quote
