i spent last week on sexcation in Palm Springs (PS) and thought some might enjoy a detailed write up. This is my first "sexcation" since the 2020 pandemic. i did go to a gay resort in FL a couple of months ago, but my main motive was to meet and be with a particular Man, so it was different.  There's been posts on BZ about sexcation, so i know it's a thing for some. Transportation:

i flew from Portland OR on Alaska Air (i have their travel credit card), a 2 hour nonstop flight. i always get a rental car, so i fly into either San Diego, Ontario California, or Palm Springs, depending on the best air fare i can get. Sometimes the savings will cover most of the cost of the car i'm getting anyway. San Diego is about 2 hours from PS, Ontario is about 1 hour, but either is an easy drive. i recommend if you do rent a car, get the waiver insurance.  Yeah, it sucks to pay for, but i have used it several times in PS and it's always been hit and run when the car is parked, either at the resort or at a store or restaurant while out. i also like renting from the car rental agency vs through a travel service like Expedia, etc.. i find they car rental insurance is better, no deductible and you can just walk away. If there is damage using a third party waiver insurance that often is available from travel agencies, you still have to do all the paperwork, file claims, etc.. Walk away  waiver insurance is way easier and usually about the same cost.   i rented from Fox car rental and it was 1/3 cheaper than any other rental agency and was seamless and easy. They try all the typical upsell bs of any car rental agency, but were just as good. In all my years of renting cars, i have never gotten the car i rented online when i pick it up. i think this is pretty standard, they just give you whatever they have. i always rent a small or midsize car, and i always end up with an SUV lol. The last two times it's been a 4Runner. No biggie for me, but gas is a dollar a gallon more in CA than most other places in the US, so if that matters to you or you plan on doing lots of driving, it's a consideration. i only used 2/3 of a tank the whole time i was there and it was $75 to fill it with regular gas @ 5.79/gal. 

Accommodations:

i stayed at All Worlds.  There are several 'gay' resorts (most clothing optional) in PS. i've stayed at All Worlds about half a dozen times. i've also stayed at Canyon Club and CCBC, and a quick google search will present you with several other options.  All Worlds is a cut above the usual seedy, do it yourself 'gay hotels,' the owner has obviously put some money into renovation. By no means 5 star accommodations, but more like 3 star compared to the usual 2 star of the others i have been to. PS is an old resort town and the places i have been to all seem to have been built in the 50's or 60's and you can see signs of age no mater how much make up has been applied to the facade. my shower had the original plumbing and the hot water pipe rattled like the end of the world every time i turned it on. But it worked. As a total bottom, i always travel with a shower attachment/shower shot and i change out the shower head when i get there and keep the hand held attached soi can exchange the shower with my shower shot for prep. (As an aside, while in Florida, i stayed at Inn Leather, and the room had a sling and a shower shot already installed... that was a first).  my room had a fridge, but no microwave. There is a microwave by the ice machine outside the room.  Bed was comfy, clean room, Netflix TV and some porn, Mini Spilt HVAC vs a window unit. The window was fogged, needed replacing, so guys can see in. Ceramic tile floors. Decent digs, decent shape. No breakfast, not even an orange or waffle, just 'complimentary coffee' a couple of hours in the morning. Monday-Thursday, there is no staff on site, office is closed and you have a phone number to call for issues. No housekeeping unless you request it. i was there 5 days and didn't see a housekeeper once. Well, i saw Him, He was cute, but he didn't clean my room. That may be a thing now?  my room didn't get cleaned the whole week i was in FL either?  Bottom line, accommodations are minimalist at best. They have a kitchen for 2 hours with coffee only. They have a room with "gymnasium" on the door, but when i asked the owner, he told me that was from a former owner and there is no gym. i went 6 days without lifting and got really sore starting back up at the gym when i returned home.  Hospitality is not at the top of their list. Indeed, if you read some rules, some have encountered some cranky behavior from the owner.  in his defense, he has done more to fix the place up and maintain it than most of the gay resorts i have been to, but also the least hospitable. He puts his money into his facility, not into providing service to his guests. 'Free'wifi that actually worked. Cost was $727 for 5 nights with $90 tax, total cost was about $820 ( that covers double occupancy). i find All Worlds is easier to get a room and less expensive than CCBC... which is a pretty popular gay resort in PS. 

Sex:

i have mixed feelings about the sex availability at All Worlds. Is it good?  i think that depends on the individual, lots of factors, so i'll share my thoughts and experiences. i stayed Wed through Monday. When i arrived Wed, i checked in online and got access codes to an after hours gate and to my room, wifi password, etc.. The office was locked and i did not see any staff wandering about till Friday. Which can be a plus or minus depending on what you like and how you use the facilities for sex.  You can have a 'guest' (read: "out side hook up") M-Th without being charged, but Fri-Sun, there is a cover charge because All World is also essentially a sex club. They have built what they call "The Maze," and truthfully, it's some of the better sex club accommodations i have been to.  They have an indoor and outdoor maze. The outdoor maze is just so so. plywood dividers with large glory holes, half of which were falling down. Also, the owner must be very short because ALL the GH's in the whole facility were very low to the ground, though well sized, not good for anyone over 6 feet tall.  Weird. not even a mix, all the same low height. The indoor Maze was nice, 4 slings, for very large beds, lots of booths with those low GH's, sitting areas, porn throughout, couple of restrooms, a padded saw horse type fuck bench. And big. But, it is only opened Friday -Sunday. When i got there Wed, it was locked, also on Thursday and it was deader that the proverbial door nail at the resort during the weekday. my first hook up was at a Lowes restroom. 

i think if i went back to All Worlds, i'd work it better. my favorite sex is walk in where i leave my door unlocked and ajar and lie face down/ass up on my bed for Guys to walk in and breed me. my best experience with walk in in PS was at CCBC. i pretty much got fucked all night there. Also an in-ground hot tub, older and the jets are not very powerful or adjustable. Both are clean and the grounds are above average and well maintained. i'd say about 50-60 guys around all the time on weekends looking to hook.

Prior to the pandemic, i was seriously looking at relocating to PS. Plenty of sex available with 40% of the population   being gay.  Not sure i want to live in the desert though. It was close to 100 degrees the whole time i was there, and it's only May,  the  summers they're  brutal  and are perfect in the PNW.  That's not as big a deal for me as work though. i can go  anywhere, i'm in demand as a critical nurse,  but working in a hospital is very hard. i work in a teaching hospital and have good trust relationship with everyone,  that's a huge  factor in the job since caregiving is a team effort, having trust and knowing those you work with is a big deal. i can text a doctor that i need an order for this or that, that i suspect this or that, and i get a good and quick response. I went to Palm Springs over the 4th of July last year, and it was brutal in both good and bad ways. I've thought a little about moving there, but can't get past the climate, I actually enjoy all 4 seasons and don't deal well with extreme heat, and it looks like it would a little higher cost of living (I may want to retire in the next 10 years). I'm lucky enough to be able to live anywhere with my current job and am probably looking at somewhere back in the Midwest since all of my family lives there and my job is based out of MN, plus both the sex and cost of living would be better there than here.
