Doxy Prep Question

Guest

Recommended Posts

I see a few guys(usually same ones) hosting gangbangs on sniffies and indicating they are on doxy prep. Thats probably well and good for them but if a guy has taken several loads and a couple or even one has gono or chlamydia that doesn’t protect the next person from contracting an std from their load

Am I correct ?

You are correct. Even if they are using the doxycycline as PrEP (taking it before the sex event), the drug in their system will not kill the bacteria from the infected top's load, just prevent it from establishing a foothold.* So if the bacteria escapes their system into some other top's urethra, it could find a suitable environment to take hold.

* In technical terms, doxycycline (like many other commonly used antibiotics) is bacteriostatic - it prevents bacteria from growing - as opposed to bacteriocidal, which would actually kill bacteria.

To the best of my knowledge, doxy has not been approved for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).   Doxy 100mgs, 2 capsules orally are to be taken as post exposure prophylaxis (PEP), 24 to 72 after sex and in conjunction with daily descovey or truvada, or truvada 2/1/1, or appritude injection as PrEP.  This approach lends about 60% protection against chlamydia and syphilis but not gonorrhea. Do't take doxy on an empty stomach. You'll likley feel nauseous.

Also worth adding, don't take it if you've been drinking alcohol. I made the mistake of taking it after having one too many drinks and was violently sick (couldn't keep anything down) for 24h afterwards.

Keep out of the sun also as it can cause extra sensitivity and you can burn much easier.

After taking do not lay down / sleep for about 2 hours to avoid upset stomach and reflux.
