I grew up in a small farming township, population 650, in rural Midwest not far from the Mississippi river. My HS graduating class was 36, K-12 was literally all in the same building. I was also very religious. After HS I was going to seminary to become a pastor, was self-aware enough that something wasn't right, dropped out and became a US Marine.
