    I'll put a comment on this thread when it's ready for signups. It'll be a few days. It's currently at Moniker which is a rather difficult registrar to transfer away from. Will probably take 4 or 5 days to get it to eNom (my primary registrar). Then I have to get an SSL cert for it. That'll probably take another day to coordinate with my hosting provider. Then I need to install the software and do basic configuration - so that's another day or two. And in the middle of all that is Christmas Eve, Christmas, etc. But the real question is how long it takes Moniker to release the domain. Could be an hour or could be a week. #BBBH, of course. I know that's a little confusing. For more clarity I guess you just write out the URL, so TBD, I guess.

    I've got rather big news… I've purchased BBBH.com. It wasn't cheap and it took me 4 months to make it happen, but it's done now. What this means is that The Bareback Brotherhood is getting a hookup site! And hopefully before too long there will be critical mass on BBBH.com and you guys will have another viable option to use when you wanna hookup with other barebackers. Admittedly things will be rough at first. I'm using some "dating" software as a starting point which I'll then need to modify rather heavily. That means some rather basic features will be missing initially – like Quick Connect / Hookup Now, and sex party listings. But I'll do what I can to get those features implemented as quickly as possible. Please be patient in the meantime. I've got a lot of plans for the site. If you have specific questions, just ask and I'll fill you in. But as general goals I want the site to be very mobile friendly and very social and community oriented. It won't be like that on day 1, but it'll get there. And a unified chat solution will be coming for both BBBH and Breeding Zone. I'm currently transferring the domain to my primary registrar. Hopefully I'll have the basics set up on the site before Christmas. There won't be much there initially, but you guys will want to sign up to reserve your desired screen name.

    The moral of the story is don't be like VoR and his ex - get tested regularly for HIV - even if you think you don't have it. As the example of his ex demonstrates - bad things can happen when you go too long between tests. IMHO, you should get tested at least every year, if not more frequently. And never go more than two years between tests. Ever. HIV is a pain in the ass, but these days the problems VoR describes can largely be avoided by timely treatment. There's no reason for people to go through experiences like the one he describes.

    It's going to take a little longer, BUT I'll be making a pretty big announcement early next week that's related to this, and after that point the whole geolocation and hookup stuff will be my top priority (though I do have to finish off a couple of projects or two that are 90% done). I could make the announcement today, but don't want to jinx anything.

    Let's say you hookup with top. While it's great if his dick springs to life instantly with a huge boner, in most cases it takes some time.     I've been wondering what is is that exactly defines the bareback brotherhood (#BBBH). Clearly bareback sex has to be involved, and I'd think that you could sum it up by saying it's a brotherhood based on the exchange of cum. But even that doesn't quite clarify things… Let's say a guy has an oral cum fetish. He's 90% oral – sometimes he may not even get fucked, but when he does get fucked it tends to be bareback.     I did a little research and found Lambda Legal's run down of HIV criminalization laws by state… fs_hiv-criminalization.pdf It varies widely by state. Near me – NY & CT have no laws against it. But NJ does have laws against it. DC (where MAL is held) has no law against it, but Illinois (where IML is held) does, and so on. When I dug a little further there is a provision in NY law about exposing someone to a "mortal danger", but given that HIV poz guys live relatively normal lifespans these days I don't think that would hold up in court. But realize, disclosure may not be enough – in some states even with disclosure you're guilty.

    You can "subscribe" to a thread at the top of each tread page. When you subscribe you have the option to be alerted when there are updates to the thread. You can also rate the thread to alert other people that it's a good thread. But there's no list of threads you've rated, so I think subscription comes the closest to what you're looking for.

    There's nothing for you to test right now. What ever you went to is not connected to this site or any of my other sites. But a question - do you use Grindr, or Scruff or A4A Radar, etc? If so, then you're sharing your location. The question is how is that data used? Until you know, you shouldn't be so hasty to say 'no'. Even putting your zip code into a hookup site is sharing location data…

I know GMHC, once a leader in HIV/AIDS work has been going through a lot of problems the last few years and is now just a shadow of the organization it used to be. That's probably pretty typical. In contrast Callen-Lorde (a GLBT health center here in NYC) is talking about where they locate if they expand their operations. My first gut reaction is that this is a normal and natural progression. HIV isn't what it used to be. Yes, the numbers of people with HIV continues to climb, but I'd guess that the number of people with AIDS is going down since most people with HIV don't progress to AIDS - at least not in Western countries where ARVs are available. Since HIV has been tamed (to a degree) it makes sense that there just isn't the same level of need for HIV/AIDS organizations, right? Or the HIV/AIDS organizations are becoming more like businesses and less like charities – Callen-Lorde being a good example of that. What are your thoughts? Is less funding for HIV/AIDS organizations a bad thing? If so, why?
