  1. Good news is that it's just as treatable.
  2. Settings (upper right corner) -> Edit profile
  3. I own the site. I've approved it. If you have an issue with it, then don't participate.
  4. Just an update… I've been working on coding for geolocation for a few days now (big learning curve for me in a number of different ways). I hope to have something working as a very rough alpha early next week.
  5. Neither. AFAIK they both suck. Go to Philly or Providence for your first bathhouse experience - you'll have more fun.
  6. As others have stated… 1) Once you start barebacking with a boyfriend you won't want to go back to condoms and you'll want bareback when you have sex with other guys. 2) 95%+ of men are not monogamous by nature. You or your boyfriend will have sex outside your "monogamous" relationship. Maybe not right away, but eventually. (See point one). If you're the type who likes the safety of condoms - then use them every time - even with your boyfriend.
  7. This site is not a "private meeting space" - it's a public website. Certain areas are members only, but membership is free to anyone. You have no expectation of privacy here - that's why people use pseudonyms. Academic research is not the equivalent of reality TV shows. I dropped out of a PhD program in sociology many years ago. I've seen what real research is like and I'm qualified to judge whether people are for real. A flashlight in the backroom is not a good analogy. A better one is not being called a pervert as you walk down the street. Would you like fewer laws restricting the sexual activity of consenting adults? (We have no decent bathhouses in NYC thanks to laws like that). Do you want there to be a defense against the anti-bareback laws that are being passed in California? You need respected researchers to do the studies and then stand up and be counted. Their opinion carries a lot more weight than your opinion or mine. It's a good thing when people like that really understand our community.
  8. According to the age you entered when you registered, you're roughly 31. That's old enough to be on the site.
  9. Yes, this guy is legit. I've seen quite a bit of his documentation. He's a PhD candidate and will be working with faculty advisers on the research. His research has passed, and will continue to be subject to the "human subjects review" policies at his university. Those policies are actually stricter than I'd like - I wanted his research to mention the name of the site, but he has to use a pseudonym for the site. But beyond that, his approach to our community is one which is generally sympathetic. There was another PhD candidate who finished his study a few months ago. I saw the final paper and it was pretty good. Among other things, his paper refuted the claims by some researchers that bug chasing is simply a form of self-harm. And there's an advanced undergrad from The University of Chicago who will be starting research soon as well. Normally I wouldn't allow undergrads on the site to do research, but what he's doing is proper research, not just a class paper - he has a faculty adviser overseeing his work, he's passed human subjects review, etc. Ultimately when serious researchers come onto the site we're understood in a more realistic, sympathetic light. Instead of being seen as freaks we're seen as regular people with regular issues. That eventually trickles down to how your doctors treat you when you go in for STD tests, etc. So research is a good thing. That said, I've learned my lesson and journalists are generally not allowed on the site. Journalists are looking for sensationalist headlines - that's not what we need.
  10. Guys, I know I've sorta neglected the idea of Cumdump Network since initially starting this thread, but it will come as I set up GeoLocation services for Breeding Zone and a hookup site I want to set up. In the process I'll set up CumdumpNetwork.com as a separate, but integrated site. More details here: https://breeding.zone/threads/23291-GeoLocation-WILL-be-coming-to-Breeding-Zone
  11. Thanks for explaining the one "completely wrong" result in the poll. You are indeed an exception. How is satellite even possible? Isn't it a 4 second round trip for every item requested? I always heard they combined satellite with a dial-up or ISDN so you'd make your requests via the phone line (since the request is small) and then get the return files via satellite (since satellite can have massive bandwidth). The techie in me doesn't understand the physics of your internet connection
  12. One other person (on an Android) had the shifting problem - it seems to shift the width of the logo. For them it only happened on the home page - not other pages. It's not happening on my iPhone, and I can't replicate it on my old Android Galaxy Tab. So not sure how to fix it. I'll investigate adding a recent posts page to the mobile site like there is on the main site.
  13. At first I thought I'd turn Breeding Zone into more of a hookup site. Then I decided this site has too narrow a focus, so I decided to start a hookup site. Well, the software I'm going to use for the hookup site comes from the straight world - so it's not as good as it needs to be with finding hookups that are close to you. So that means I need to develop GeoLocation capabilities, so I figured I'd experiment here before getting into the hookup site. Here's my approach. Let me know what you think of it... There will be two GeoLocation interfaces: A distance away view (similar to Grindr, Scruff, etc) A map (similar to what we've had on here in the past - only much better) The accuracy of the GeoLocation will depend on a few factors. (If you don't like technical details - skip this section). If you're logged in and a new IP address is detected (or I feel like I need to reconfirm the position of your IP address), then I'll have your browser request permission to have your position, and if you say OK, I'll have a pretty accurate position for you. This works best on mobile devices that have GPS, but it's often just as accurate on desktop computers. To see this in action check out this example. If members see problems with the position generated, they'll have the option to manually enter an address or intersection and appear there. This will be handy if they want to obscure their location or if they want to appear in a location before they arrive there (e.g. when they're about to go on vacation). But only logged in members will have this option and other people seeing it will know that it's either obscured or a future location. If you're not logged in or if you say 'no' when asked to share your location, then I'll have to fall back to a less accurate location. If I've seen your IP address before and someone has given me a precise location for the IP, then I'll use that. That's a bit of a crap-shoot though. If you're on a cell phone an IP address could be used by just about anyone anywhere in your city. As I see an IP address over and over I'll get a sense how much I can trust the data I have on that IP address. Otherwise I'll look up the IP in a geolocation database. I was thinking of using a paid service to have more accurate results, but I just tried and it was 4 miles off from using my desktop and home network and about 15 miles off when using my iPhone and the AT&T network. Results like that aren't worth paying for, so I'll use the free version of the geoIP database. What all of that means in practical terms is… I'll have really accurate positioning for members who share their locations. I'll have pretty accurate positioning for people in places like coffee shops and offices once some member shares their location from that IP. Positioning for everyone else is a bit of a crap shoot - it'll probably be in the right city. We'll be lucky if it's more accurate than that. In terms of features and potential issues… When you're in distance view or map view you'll be able to exclude people with imprecise locations. Logged in members will be able to exclude themselves from map view entirely if they want. Logged in members will be able to obscure their location on map view by moving their pin slightly - a few blocks in cities, a few miles outside of cities. Users who have not logged in will not be able to see member details - just the fact that someone is there (unless the member specifically enables public viewing). Users who have not logged in cannot hide themselves from the map view. If you're a lurker this may be an issue for you. However, I'll try to make that preference persist after logout. There will be the ability to see "ghosts" / people who've been somewhere in the past. In other words you can set the period of time in the past that you want to see - it won't just be active users (though that will be the default). There will be the ability to see users on my other sites. For example, if you log into Raunchy Fuckers you'll be visible on Breeding Zone - which makes sense since it's the same user name and password. But I'll also have the ability to show users between other sites - say Breeding Zone and the hookup site (once it's off the ground). You'll be able to set a status and a note that will be visible. Everything from "not looking" to a phone number to something like "Blindfolded cumdump taking loads now - Room 312, Warm Sands Motel". Clearly you need to take your personal safety into consideration when leaving notes in the system. This means that this is the solution for "The Cumdump Network". One other important change that's coming is that the location field on here will be mandatory going forward. If you don't fill it in I'll look up your city name and enter it as a default value. In terms of timing of the rollout - I expect it to take me at least a month to even have anything to test. So if we're lucky there may be a working system just after the new year. I'll experiment first with CumdumpNetwork.com and a test page on here that will only affect people who seek it out and go to it. Let me know your thoughts and any concerns you have about my approach.
  14. That's weird. I thought turning it off in the admin section would turn it off. Seems I have to disable it on Forum Runner's site. Actually, I just did that and that's not disabling Forum Runner either. So I guess all I can say is I've tried to disable it. If you find it no longer works, that's why... Yes, just go to the regular site and it will detect that you're using an iPhone or Android and will give you a different look and feel that's easier to use on mobile devices.
  15. If you were using Forum Runner to access this site, it's been disabled because an exploit was found in the code. There is a fix, but I want to hear whether people are actually using Forum Runner before investing the time in fixing the problem. The site now has a proper mobile theme that should eliminate the need for using Forum Runner. If you have an opinion one way or the other, comment here. I'm putting it in general discussion to get maximum exposure and then I'll move the thread over to the Tips, Tricks & Help section.
  16. I'm in NYC, daddy material, and interested. But I need to know a lot more about you.
  17. When people sign up they can say what member told them about the site. That's a referral. Also, if you have a blog I can give you a URL that automatically tags you as the referrer.
  18. Done. Though now you won't be able to see this message.
  19. They're coming up with a monthly vaginal ring for women that delivers a lower dosage of PrEP drugs. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/09/130927123509.htm Since the drugs are delivered in the area of infection less is needed. But only animal studies so far.
  20. I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about, but if you're talking about what I think your talking about I don't think it will work very well - it's hard enough to get people to post in the right section as it is. I'd suggest you use the subscription feature to keep track of the threads you don't want to forget. Just click on "Thread Tools" just before the first post on each page and you'll see the option to subscribe to the thread.
  21. I want to go. But gotta see how my finances play out the next few months.
  22. There used to be two versions of the templates for the site - one for desktop users which was properly fleshed out, and one for mobile users which I didn't even touch. The desktop version used a Flash-based video player. The mobile version used an HTML5 video player. Early this month I came up with a new player that would work on both. It would first try Flash and if that weren't supported it would degrade to HTML5. That meant I could unify the user interfaces and only maintain one set of templates. So that's what I did. So yes you're getting the desktop site, but it should work with mobile devices. Yes, it's different than it used to be, but is there some problem? Full-screen mode should work on your mobile device when viewing videos, etc...
  23. PwHIV = Persons with HIV? I do what you're talking about - I take my Truvada when I get myself ready in the morning - it's in the medicine cabinet next to the shit I put in my hair. I've been on a variety of other meds over the years - anti-seizure meds (that I didn't need), hypertension meds, etc. With those others it was always "don't miss a dose, but if you do take it as soon as you think about it unless it's the next day." I don't see why I would need to be more vigilant than that with PrEP. Not sure how many times I have to repeat this, but PrEP is not being used to manage an active infection. If look at the studies it's probably nearly as effective if taken 5 days a week provided the two off days aren't consecutive. I've talked to my doc about all this and he agrees with me. And I should give the caveat that he's at a gay health clinic that cares very much about getting PrEP right. There's no need for guys on PrEP to be neurotic about their meds. They just can't be cavalier about them.
  24. Trust me, I'd love to have one. Your asking me made me think a bit more about it. Given that I want something like that for a hookup site, I might as well develop it and use it here before I start in earnest on the hookup site. I researched it a bit and the geoIP data I'll need for people without GPS (e.g. desktop/laptop users) is a lot cheaper than I thought it would be.
  25. I miss a day, sometimes two, every month. And occasionally I don't realize I didn't take it until 8-12 hours after I usually take it. I've been taking hypertension meds for almost a decade now - so it fits nicely into that routine. Those of us on PrEP aren't poz. We're not controlling a virus that's in our body. For us it's just about having enough of it in our system when we happen to encounter HIV. So relax if you're a few hours late. The half-life of the meds is fairly long. The infections they saw in the trials were largely people who didn't have the meds in their system when they came in and tested poz. That means they were off the meds for a week or two. So be religious about it, but don't be neurotic about it.
