The Log Cabin Republicans are marginalized at best.  I joined a gay Democratic Club in Florida but I left when they wouldn't take my suggestion to be activists.  If you're a fiscal conservative, the Libertarian party might be a better fit.

To have friends, one needs to know how to be a friend, accepting others as they are and in return they will accept you.  Knowing you can tell them anything without being judged which also goes both ways.  Loyalty is also a 2 way street.
