Is this something new? I just noticed today that poll results now show the usernames of everyone who voted for each option. It seems kind of weird to display that info.

The person who sets up the poll specifies whether it will show user names or not. Sometimes it's useful. The default is to not show user names.

i think it's great that the polls can show the respondents, because then others can contact them for advice or to give support. i'm not sure which are more truthful: Anonymous polls or one where you have to stand up for what you believe in. if people want anonymity, they don't have to participate. i guess pols could tell folks if they are anonymous or not before they participate.

It means it's a public poll, a user can decide to make it public pr private. It it's private you will get more honest answers especially if it's on a sensitive subject like HIV. No one else will be able to see anyone else's answer, your answer on most sites will be in italics showing which one you picked.
