Initial symptoms of HIV infection

Recommended Posts

Got tonsilitis 2 weeks ago. Nothing out of the ordinary there for me as my tonsils are larger than is normal.

Loss of appetite can be added to the list too. Seem to be eating because it is meal time not because I am actually hungry.

The really wierd thing is that I broke out into a rash since seeing my doctor about the tosilitis. On my arms, legs, chest and tops of my hands. Never had anything like it in my life...other than maybe chicken pox when I was young. I thought when those who are HIV+ get a rash, it is later on ???

The rest of the symptoms could be explained by flogging myself with work. The rash is something I just simply can't explain. Got a test form from my doc so will get tested by the end of the week and should have results sometime next week. Have had a type of rash before (pityriasis rosea), but NOTHING like this.

Looks like Friday is test day.

My way of dealing with the worry is trying to breed a few more guys in the meantime! Met up with a hot guy last night who had never had outdoor sex so we met up at an extensive beat area. In the end some other guy ended up fucking him with a condom...which broke. I suspect it was a well orchestrated stealthing. After sending him on his way and telling him what he needed to do, I ended up meeting a hot cutie and breeding his hole with a fucking huge load. I felt so good after that, that I went for a jog afterwards.

I was always under the impression that the rash that resulted from HIV infection was more like this - http://byebyedoctor.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/hiv-rash-2.jpg

Have Googled the rash that is caused by Syphillis, is different from what I can see.

Was last tested in November 2012 for HIV and other STDs and tested negative. Going for test tomorrow afternoon.

Last year when I was so sick I got the rash that looks like the second one you posted. More like red spots than a rash. It went away in about a month.

The flu doesn't cause this. Am in Australia...we have yet to really get into our flu season yet (which they are already predicting is going to be BAD). Did the tests on Friday afternoon, have a doc appointment on Monday. May have to wait a little longer than that for my test results but at least my GP can try to diagnose it.

You could say it is more like red spots Tiger...I thought they had stopped appearing but noticed before in the shower that there are more now. Thankfully I have a job where long pants and long sleeved shirts are the norm. Got a few spots on the top of my hands.

The rash sounds like syphyilis. It's often a package deal.

In 1980, before we knew about HIV, many seroconversion rashes were siagnosed as Syphylis 2: The Sequel. I was sent home with a bottle of calamine lotion and an appointment for the following month "to prove it wasn't syph". Pretty much all they could do at the time...

Not to be a downer on the site or anything but if you are concerned about getting HIV then barebacking probably isn't a good choice. Particularlly if you aren't prepared to deal with the life changes that being poz brings. The pills the doctor appointments ever 4 to 6 months, blood work etc.

I have a friend who's eldest son just passed away from AIDS. He was 27 years old and sadly it all could have been prevented. He didn't have medical insurance and when he started to feel poorly he just chalked it up to being depressed. Little did he know he had a tumor growing in his brain as his T cells were at 11 when his mom finally went and picked him up in Philly and brought him home and convinced him to go to the hospital. I watched as this vibrant young man withered away and became some fraction of himself over 4 months until 2 weeks ago at 5:18 PM on a Wednesday afternoon he finally succumbed to the infections and diseases that were ravaging his poor body and passed away at home.

So, if you are concerned about it and don't want it. Then by all means, don't do it and if you do it, get tested regularly at least once a year. Watching someone die of AIDS is not a fun thing to do trust me, its heart renching particularly someone so young and knowing it could have all been avoided just if our health care system was something other than what it was. I know he could have done a free clinic and all that but the young don't always realize what is available to them and being scared of a huge medical bill well enough said.

As for the original topic of this thread. There are not always symptoms to sero conversion. You can convert and not have anything go on or as I did, you get a low grade fever and nothing else and well my doc just gave me an anti biotic and sent me home, I forget what she said I had. My next regular appointment and lab work, I had a scheduled HIV test and well there it was, my VL was little over 30000 when I found out, my CD4 was normal still but I caught it early and was able to get to an ID doc and well all is good now, undetectable and my CD4 is still very much in the normal range.

Sorry abot be Davy downer here but thought it was relivent to this particular thread. :)

Hi all, long time since my last post on this thread !

The biopsy wasn't conclusive so my doctor referred me to a dermatology specialist. I was diagnosed with "Guttate Psoriasis". It is one of the rarer types of psoriasis and it is normally caused by a strep infection. In my case...it was the tonsilitis which caused it...something I have gotten at times since turning 20. So now I get regular amounts of UV-B light at phototherapy sessions.

I pretty much live in long sleeve shirts and long pants in order to hide the spots which are slowly going away. Thankfully there are some people out there who don't care how wierd your skin looks and just want your cock and load anyway. As for the others...there is darkness...

I was pleased that it wasn't HIV. For those who say those of us who don't want to become HIV+, should practice safe sex...you are forgetting why men enjoy it raw. And yes, I regularly get tested.
